I keep getting a random error and memory dump. I am running a Nvidia FX5500 AGP card. It will do it a various operations, sometimes during a game(Marine Sharpshooter2) and sometimes while surfing ebay with a couple of windows open. It isn't overclocked and I'm running the current Tweakforce driver.
Any help?

I would try installing the official nvidia driver and see if you still have the issue.

Yea I suppose. The driver I used was supposed to be stable and the atest and greatest. I'll give it a try.

That is the issue with the tweak drives I have seen. Mostly they work fine, but when you have any sort of gfx error, it usually ends up being the tweakers... I have not used them in a long time so not sure what the quality is like anymore.

Well I haven't had the memory dump for a bit now but I tried playing Marine Sharpshooter2 and the screen would freeze and flash then go back to the game every minute or so,like it was trying to catch up. The video card has more than enough memory for this game so I don't understand.

BTW: Sorry for the derail, but how do you like that game?

AND... It used to be that the tweaker drivers would not support old generation cards with newer releases. This may not be the case anymore, but last time I checked I had to d'load an older version for one of my nVidia cards. I will try and check my old system notes to see if I kept track of that.

Love the game! I'm not a massive gamer and didn't spend alot on my system but I'm pretty happy with it. My son and I bought it at wallyworld for $10. It was a 2pack Marine Sharpshooter1+2!
I'll ask around on the tweaker board and see if an older driver would work better.
Any ides why the lag in the game?

Well I reinstalled the up to date driver from Nvidia. It has crashed 3 times this week. One time as it was booting up.
Anyone got any other ideas?

You may need to delete the nv4_mini.sys file from your PC. I dealt with this yesterday. Do a google search on nv4_mini.sys and you should find the instructions on how to remove it from the registry.

Xpirate-- I can't seem to find how to remove it. My errors are coming from the nv4_disp.dll Is it really going to help to remove the mini? This stupid video card is driving me nuts! I may try an older tweakforce driver.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ nv4 Video

C:\ WINNT\ system32\ drivers\ nv4_mini.sys

This is the default nVidia driver for Windows.

I could not get XP to install because of this rotten file. I had to put in a different video card to install it, then remove the file to make the nVidia AGP video card work.

Did it used to have this problem? Or is this just a recent thing after you bought MS1+2?

I didn't have the problem til I got this 128mb FX5500. the 64mb I had worked great. I think it is just a faulty card or the game isn't compatible with the video card.
I have a 256mb 6200 GeForce on the way. Hopefully all will be fixed.
