Some may wonder where I've been. Well I dont have much time to mod these days, but I still have two running. (dont worry I've not forget the Resurection project of the Albator... Still need to find some parts)
Since I spend probably too much time on work, I decided to add an aquarium in my office. Still need to buy some fishs, but here it is

Get some UV LED's and some UV reactive fish. oooh pretty! :D

Pretty cool fish tank though, I gotta admit, makes me want to go out and buy one too!

The human skull is a nice touch, even though I'm usually against it. I'm afraid that one day goldfish will turn on the human species as the dominant predators of this world, due to the many generations of brainwashing that the goldfish have endured thanks to the looking at a human skull every day for the majority of their lives. That, and I'm sure they're starting to get pretty ticked off from being flushed down the potty and into the sewers while taking a nice long nap after a hard night of partying.

So let me just say, that I'll be the first to welcome are new goldfish overlords, but the last to say that "I never saw it coming". :p

crenn, thats called mass hysteria due to the release of the movie "Jaws" (:p;):)) and the fact that once upon a time ago the media ate up such stories as "shark attacks", which is understandable really, as sharks really are terrifying looking creatures with their many rows of razor sharp teeth. But sharks aren't human killers. The fact is, most of what you hear about with "shark attacks" is actually something more on the lines of "mistaken identity". They get confused at what they are seeing and/or smelling as I understand it. That, and when you're hungry, just about everything and anything looks good enough to eat. But also, they're has been more than one story about a shark who has attacked and then let go. (though I will say, that they still are dangerous and for the most part, should be avoided. Even if it is mistaken identity, I'd rather not be eatin' thank you very much. lol)

I'm sure you already knew that, as I think your comment was meant as comical, but I just like to clear the subject up whenever I can, so no offense meant. :)

Its just that I used to have a friend that was utterly terrified by sharks and wouldn't even go more than knee deep in the ocean. Well, that is until I told her thats plenty deep enough for some sharks. Now she won't go in past ankle deep. I suppose I probably shouldn't tell her that thats plenty deep enough for other deadly/poisonous critters of the sea. lol

@danthegeek: Ah, you got me! I suppose Sharks really are the better candidate then? :p

Someone hasn't been watching mythbusters!

Zephik, shark attacks are rare, and people getting killed are even rarer, but it does happen.

That reminds me of an article from the Daily Show a few years back when there was a rash of like 5 Shark Attacks in Florida. The did a segment on the rash of falling coconuts. Apparently there are like 15 to 20 deaths a year due to falling coconuts in Florida per year, and many more injuries, and the media was freaking out over 5 shark attacks. :D Sensationalism at its best!

They get up to 20" and a 55gallon + tank will be needed once they get larger.

I don't know how experienced you are with fish slytherock but i would check out www.fishgeeks.com (http://www.fishgeeks.com) before you decide on your fish. Thats how I got started on the right foot

I don't want to start with dead animals; within the last month, my ex-roomate's cat died, then my dgo (a beautiful 15 years old husky) and finally my own cat. I miss the 3 of them...

huskies are AWESOME dogs. Sorry to hear about the losses! I have a one and a half year old dachshund (sp?) and if she died, I would seriously cry, cause its like losing a family member.

here's a fish story for ya!

So we used to have a fish tank in our living room, somewhere around 50 gallons octagonal prism. It had two pieces of glass on top of it for a lid.

So one day my mom was feeding the fish we had. We had one "shark" and some bleeding hearts (http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/characins/images/BleedingHeartTetraWFCH_P1759.jpg or something like it)
.

So any way my mom was feeding them one day, and they got a little bit over excited. One of the bleeding heart leaped into the air and was cleaved in half when my mom closed to the 2 glass lids. They came together at an angle and came apart, leaving a soft of edge where when you put the lid back on it came in contact at a "sharp" angle. The fish jumped up at exactly the right time and the exactly right angle (or the opposite if you thing about it).

Pretty sad day that was. But at least it was a sort of humorous death...

First off, goldfish are some of the messiest fish you'll come across in the hobby. A small tank, no matter how often you change the water, is not going to be able to support the bio filtration needed to cope with the amount of ammonia and other waste put out by these fish. This is why most people suggest 10-20 gallons at LEAST per goldfish. The build up of waste will stress your fish out making it susceptible to any number of illnesses and can quickly reach the point that it is toxic to the fish.

Size is another issue. A fully grown comet goldfish can reach up to a foot in length, the fancies and get close to that. Ex: Will a 12" fish be able to turn around, let alone move in a 10" tank?

I used to have a 1 (yes, 1 gallon) gallon tank with 50+ fish in there (yeah one of them was a real whore) and I changed the water cause it started to turn green from algae. They started to die one by one, and now I'm left with nothing.

Good idea to move the betta.
Be very very careful keeping the betta with those fancies.
Bettas are great fish but not the friendliest guys on the planet.

You may see them nipping at, and even eating pieces off of, the fancy goldies fins.

I have also seen bettas eat the giant eyeballs right off the face of moors and celestials.

Scotty

Bettas are so cool ^_^

As long as you only have one usually they're fine, they were bred to fight with other Male Bettas, and should only be kept with Females when mating, otherwise they will kill them...

They can get on with most fish, but they can attack, and if they have their fins nipped at they can die quickly apparently.

I used to have a pair of clown loaches in my old tank. They were pretty cool, good fun watching them eat snails .... they got abit evil though and killed my Angel fish, so they had to go.
