Here's an unnecessarily large photo of some flowers

I randomly posted this on another forum, and people seemed to like it. I take a lot of photos, but most of them just end up sitting in a corner on my computer not doing anything. And the people there don't like the size that I take all of them in, and they all know me for my large photos. I like to have them as big as I can, and then I can always resize them later if really needed. That way I'll always have the maximum potential for detail if needed.

Nice. What camera did you take that with? I should pick up a nice one later on. I like taking pictures of stuff but have never had a good opportunity to.

Wow, what f-stop and shutter speed did you use.

I have no idea really. I don't remember what I used, and can't seem to find the original file which contains all of the details. As for the camera itself, it's a Nikon D40. First digial SLR I've owned.

Well, it just earned its place as my desktop background.

Its really nice having a big picture because my resolution is 1680 X 1050 and no other pictures work well.

I actually decided to use it for my desktop as well. My monitor isn't widescreen though, so it ahs black bars along the top and bottom, but I like the effect that it adds. And it turns out that I have all of the flower pictures I took on my camera still. So I found some other nice ones I took.





This one's just nice because there's a little insect on it. Other than that, it's not my favorite.

This will show how such a subtle change can make a dramatic difference in the picture. Here's one of some yellow flowers. Looks nice I suppose.

But then there's this one. I main difference in this is that the focus point is just back a tiny bit. But look how much it changes it. The dark greens that are brought out in the underside of the flowers, the definition of the collective yellow of all of the petals, the details of the petals underneath browning and dying.

I still find the original photo posted in this thread to be my favorite though.
