for all you old... i mean experienced people :devious: check out what my mom got at our local church bazaar for free. i'm not yet sure if it works but if not i will scrap it for the fans if there not to noisy. its almost 10" long. with apparently two core working in SLI according to this article here (http://www.thetechzone.com/reviews/video/3dfx/v5-5500/index.shtml).

well its a btx card, i think, the agp slot(on the video card) is backwards and won't fit in my old computer. it never crossed my mind until i had my old video card out, and my hard drives (it wouldn't fit with them in there cage). i don't have any other working computers that i would try it on so i guess i'm scraping it for what i can.

Is it bad that I have one of those in a computer, Spawn?

Or one of the most collosal cards I've seen is my old PNY GeForce 4400Ti, it's like a foot long, AGP, can only really play UT99.

since i couldn't find out if the card works rather than toss if i took a page from some people here and mounted it on my desk. for some reason i just don't like the idea of throwing it out.

I was going to say, DONT TOSS IT! Lol.. the idea of building a "legacy" gaming machine is becoming more appealing to me. Win98, older hardware, and goin hard on the OLDSKOOL games. Warcraft 2, Doom 1 & 2, etc. :D

I got me an old school gamin' box!

I honestly couldnt tell you what the hardware specs on it are past an amd proc and ati card, havent really looked into it too much, but it runs all my old games brilliantly, all the doom games, shadow warrior, blood 1+2, duke nukem, x-wing, the early tomb raiders etc.
Its awesome fun!
Good call on warcraft 2 though, havent played that in many many years, will have to get a copy!

It's not a BTX card.
It's a first gen AGP card. The 2nd gen cards had the cut further back in the connectors.

I ran 3dfx equip for several years, starting with the voodoo2.

I recently found my old copy of WarCraft II... I wonder if there's any way to increase the resolution... that's the only reason why I'm not playing it, hahaha. I wonder if there's any way to get a copy of System Shock 1 & 2... /OT(?)

how about heretic and hexen, my mom used to hate those games because of the anti-Christ message.

My mom hates all the violent games I play. It's like "Ooh! I know! Let's play Bible Island Adventure 3!" I just can't stand religious stuff for personal reasons, let's not get into a war over it, lol. /END of THAT

But yeah, I still love the first Red Alert game. If only I could make it so you could save in skirmishes and find my old .ini file that was pretty damn customized.

Try Ebay, or have a look round some abandonware sites, my favourite is abandonia, i've found loads of awesome abandonware games there.

Abandonware is still piracy as someone would still own the rights to it. Please don't discuss it here.

Please obtain the games through legitimate means.

Thanks

It is? Huh. I could start a big discussion for both sides of an argument about it, but like you said let's not discuss it here, lol.

On a side note, if I ever happen to be in charge of a game making company the games are gonna be released as free after the ten year anniversary or something along those terms, lol.
