View Full Version : Solid State Drive and HDD

I wanna make a Lanbox and i want a very fast drive and a hard drive for the other is that ok meaning Can I have a hard drive and a solid state drive in it some how hooked up with another drive for back up?

Solid state for gaming
Hard drive for music and video
back up well you should know what that is for.

you can buy a solid state drive, a large other drive and a large backup drive and run them at the same time. Easy to do.


Just plug them into power, plug them into the SATA ports, and then format and put your stuff on them.

IMO its a complete waste of money to go SSD right now, Spend your money on something thats worth the price, a raptor (10k rpm) or a SCSI drive (15k rpm) just be sure to purchase a host bus adapter if you go with the SCSI drive.

Damn, I was gonna suggest a Raptor as well, they have just released a 150GB version, I would go with that and just use a standard drive for media, or get 2 and run them in raid 0, it's all up to you. Solid state drives are really expensive at the moment but when the prices drop I will consider getting one and modding it lol. Because there aren't any platters you don't need to worry about dust too much, take off the case, mod it, blow with air gun, re-assemble. Too easy.
