LED tree

What I am looking to do is light up an array of LEDs in order. I want to use an LED like seen here

where i can then light them up progressively as my PC boots up. Does anyone have any ideas on how this could be accomplished?

Thats a how-to for a 10 led runner, could be modified to roughly your boot time.

Thanks for the link. That is half way to what I want. The other half would be to get the lights to stay on instead of blinking back off.

The idea is to have like a power up bar. When fully lit the power is all the way on. Of course is just a visual and not actually connected to the power status.
