Hello all...

My name is Chris. I live out here in the Pacific Northwest. Oregon to be precise. So in the words of a great movie, "Please allow myself to introduce.... myself" I've been into PC's for a while now, doing all kinds of things. Basic websurfing, making music using ACID Pro, doing a little digital animation, some mild upgrades (video card, sound, RAM, etc...), Photo editing, etc...

Within the past few months I've been visiting here often and watching from affar. I thought I'd finally take the plunge and join. A key time as I also just completed my first case mod. Nothing too exciting or elaborate as some I've seen here. But don't worry, the gears are turning and I'm thinking up some ideas. So here's some pics of my first mod...

So, here's what I did...

I installed 2 80mm blue led fans. One in the front and one in the back. I cut out a hole in the side of the case for the spiffy cooling controller. The front face plate, I cut out the embosed sections of the "Gateway" logo. Drilled out the dipples in the cover as well. Going solid dots from the center and then dispersing out as you get to the outside. Like I said nothing to exciting, but it looks kind of cool at night...

So again, It's a pleasure to meet you all and I look forward to further conversations and case modding experiences.

Welcome to TCBS. If you have any questions just ask. People are are pretty cool.

Anyway I like your mod. That looks sweet. With a black or gun metal paint it would be sick.

Hello and welcome! --I agree maybe a next step would be to paint the case--maybe start with the front bezel and work your way to the rest--i'm sure the folks here will help guide you wisely :D

Actually... I might be able to help some of you. I have a very diverse background...

I've done autobody for 10 years, so I know a fair amount about fillers, plastic adhesives, finishes, etc...

I am a hobbiest woodworker...

And I also make custom knives as a sort of side job slash hobbie.

Plus I'm also into PC's. However, that might be were I could use some help. I'm pretty good as a user, I have a so-so knowledge of building and upgrades. So, the more technical end is where I might need some help.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments guys. Much appreciated.

Exactly how did you get that in the side? Did you just cut a hole and slide it in or use brakcets or what cause that is pimp. I have a case i want to do some mods to but idk what to do at all cept add some fans. *:( im not L337 like you guys here :(*

The hole for the controller was cut in using a cut off wheel on a dremel. Then I used a file to get the dimensions as close as possible for a really tight fit. I put masking tape down first over where I would be cutting as to damage the existing finish as little as possible. The edges still burnt a little due to the cut off wheel. Then after I got a nice tight fit, the unit was epoxied in from the backside. If you were so inclined you could also make brackets and epoxy the brackets inplace, or if you don't mind seeing rivets on the outside, you could rivet the brackets in place. What took the longest was all the filling for a tight fit.

actually image signatures are not allowed.

I guess we can have image sigs--as long as they arent too annoying :p

Doesn't really matter whether it is annoying. Read the rules here (http://thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14)

Signature Size Limits
All signatures should not exceed the following size limits, and you can't have images.
For text signatures: 4 lines normal size, 8 lines small size and up to 500 chars total. Font sizes above 2 are not allowed. (Blank lines count as lines.)

well, seeing as how Crimson says it ok, could we have that changed and be given a pixel size limit to the images. That and they would be following the other rules regarding images.

I made a few changes:

Signature Size Limits
All signatures should not exceed the following size limits; For text signatures: 4 lines normal size, 8 lines small size and up to 500 chars total. Font sizes above 2 are not allowed. (Blank lines count as lines.) You CAN have images, limited to 400x150 pixels in size. Images containing pornographic, lewd or objectional material will result in your immediate expulsion from these forums--now and forever throughout the known universe.

Hey Crim, any chance you could add to those limits that no animated pics be allowed. There is nothing more annoying or distracting than a page full of images jumping and flashing around.

If we find anything winky, blinky or otherwise animated (gifs, flash, etc) you will be drawn and quartered. That means kicked off the forums forever.

Sounds good to me. The only problem I have with image sigs is that they take up so much vertical space which means more scrolling to read the important stuff, but if it is capped to 150px this shouldn't be a problem.

I think most of us scroll through a boat load of pics in a given day here...

The 150px will not kill us!

Now did my sig hurt you?
