View Full Version : Who hates Online Racing Games?

Online Multiplayer Racing games can easily be the death of a good day. They are crawling with teens and just people in general who seem to think the NFS drift in fast/ out slow method is just the perfect way to race in a sim type racing game. And its not just one or two people per race, the damn community is crawling with them.
Online FPS's are bareable because you can simply frag the hell out of the noob. Online racing games however, the noob can destroy all chances of you placing. Also, for some reason when the noob cry's out for sympathy when he drifts into you at speeds that would have put him into the wall had you not been there, somehow your the one to be flamed incescently and even booted on many occasions.
I love Forza 2 and other online racing games, but I think I am going to have to give up the online portion of the game, because honestly I think I am growing more gray hairs every second I try to play online with these people. (and im only 20 goshdarnit). I swear they are the same people that think there beat up civic with rusted fenders can corner through a public intersection like a F1 racer on the track.
Just letting off some steam as I wish I could strangle people through the internets! (Have they created something to do that yet? I am still waiting on smell-o-vision for all the delicious food and such). Have any of you let such a great online game go because of such stupidity?
I mean how hard is it to use the breaks before a turn, not during? How does one expect to turn while the tires are desperately trying to stop the inevitable drift straight forward that is quite obviously coming?
God I am going crazy, someone please save me

Simple solution, cut through the inside of the turn like you're supposed to
when they overshoot by tons, slip in the nice hole they leave behind and just ****ing gun it. I do it all the time in PGR2.

Slipping in works later on in the race if they arent too close to you and the circumstances are right. Say you go outside-inside-outside and they are on your inside while you are out towards the outside. You slow down to cut inside to make the turn and BOOM!!! they plow right through you. Now, you can put yourself on the inside of them to reduce the chance of this happening to you, but you also sacrifice speed going through this turn as you have to break more than you would if you were outside to begin with. Now your playing catchup even more with people who are taking lines like they are supposed to ahead of you.
Now, show me a winning strategy when the race is just beginning and you have 8 cars or so all bolting for that first turn. You take the inside, your getting creamed unless your car is much faster than theirs off the line. On an even playing field your screwed, because the second you slow down to take that turn your getting plowed.
Now say you slip behind the others right at the beginning, pretending your car is slower or something to get in the back of the pack, you can usually just slip by the fools who dont know how to take a line. But now you just put yourself atleast a second or even more behind the leader who may be a pretty damn good racer, and now your fighting to play catchup the whole race.
I love playing online with other people, just sucks to play with people who don't take lines the correct way. Just now I was in 2nd to last place because some kid spun me out into the wall as another drift monkey slid into me and pinned me against the wall. By the time I got out I was screwed to have any chance with the leader. Needless to say, I had the fastest best lap by far, just not enough time to catch up.
I wish that truskill rank crap scanned to see if people took lines correctly or not. They don't have to be perfect because no one is, distractions, etc, but come on now. Its even worse that they are giving forza2 away with the xbox's now. (good for me, free game, bad for online racing arghhhh).
If I can't figure out how to get past this issue I will probably just have to keep the multiplayer to when my buddies come over and I know they can drive atleast somewhat correctly.
ARGHHH lol

Well... it's not Halo... but yeah. People online can be total jerks. One more reason why I usually avoid it. Since Crysis takes so much for specs maybe there won't be as many jerks (lol... yeah right). I've learned just to be patient with people like that and ignore what they do... even though I do lose my patience and quit after a while if I get real tired of it. Now here's the tricky thing: Try driving in real life, lol. I'm stuck with people that do all sorts of crazy crap because North Carolinians can't drive to start with and we have people from New Jersey and richer parts of New York moving down here. It's nuts, hahaha. But isn't everywhere?

With any online game, people feel the need to be asses. Crysis will inevitably be the same unfortunately.
But I love driving even though I want to kill people. I use my time driving to release my stress by yelling when people are retarded lol. Honestly I just hate people who drive crappy, and to be honest most people don't know how to drive. They give people licenses for convenience, not because they can actually drive. Most drivers are seriously retarded.
I mean the driving tests in america last but a minute. Other places in the world you have tests that last hours, that actually test your driving, not if you can check your mirrors that one time you have some big intimidating person beside you.

Yeah. I can drive pretty well, I just have a lot on my mind most of the time so I miss things... that and I'm still new to driving. I have avoided a few wrecks reflexively though. I'm proud of that.
In Crysis I use vehicles offensively, wuahahaha. Get going about 60, aim at enemy vehicle or building, get about 100ft away, bail out. BOOM! Such a ridiculous yet funny and satisfying strategy. Thank god I'm not stupid enough to do that in reality, lol. That's the other reason why it's fun. It's a game, not real. That is the whole point of playing such crazy games... to have fun and not do stupid crap in reality. That's at the very least my take on it.
Yeah, I tend to trash talk a little while I drive. Idiots tailgating motorcyclists... motorcyclists tailgating people... just stupid crap. Nobody here in NC uses turn signals except for me. People randomly pull break checks and do about 5mph around turns. The brake pads in the car I have aren't gonna last long, lol. If everybody else just got the hell off the road and let me drive by myself I would enjoy it a LOT more. Nobody has patience... that's why their such assholes on the road and everywhere. They want it NOW NOW NOW NOW NOWNOWNOWNOWNOWNOW and can't wait a second. Just something that I've noticed that's been bothering me. No care is taken to do anything right or to help each other out. I just be polite and help when I can and feel like it (and if I feel like the person deserves it). Wow... that got OT, lol.
