Soldering problem

Ok, for a side project I'm working on that needs to be done by monday I need to solder 3 LED's . Only problem is the space I need to place them is just bigger than the 3 mm LED's themselves. And when I try to bend the wires to fit, my solder points are breaking the wires. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to keep them from doing so.

Add a small bit of thin flexable wire to the leads and then solder it to the solder points.
