I don't really know if this is a hot hardware deal or not, but damn these are cheap! Just check out this side by side newegg comparison of the Microsoft Zunes.

I'm not sure why, but the brown one is only a hundred dollars, almost half the price of the other Microsoft Zunes. Is brown not a desirable color? Its doing better than white at least. Hmmm. Anyways, wow! A hundred dollars for a 30GB MP3/MP4/WiFi/FM Tuner Player?? Just take a look at its competitor, Apple iPods. The closest thing to a hundred bucks with Apple iPods is a recertified apple nano 2GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855101016)! :eek: Its not even in the same class! Here is a Player (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855101066) thats more like the Zune than that Nano. Still, its fifty dollars more, and for less none the less!??

Maybe this isn't news to anyone, but it sure is to me. I had no idea they were so cheap or so feature packed!

Why's the brown one a lot cheaper than the other ones? Probably not very popular but still... that's a possible Christmas gift or something.

If you check Amazon.com they have the brown for $89 and the other colors for closer to $130-150. If you click on the "Used & New" button, amazon.com sells them for cheaper there. I think that is their way of selling for lower than MSRP.

I'm gonna hopefully get/buy a brown Zune for Christmas and I'll get a skin for it. Which would you say is better, a green background with lightning, urban camo, or a home paint job? I'm not sure how good my painting schkills are though.

My neighbor actually has the Brown Edition Zune and he let me take a look at it. I'll tell you right now, Newegg doesn't do it justice at all. Theirs looks like diarrhea brown, but in person, its actually a very nice color and I can now understand why they went with that color. Its different, kind of has a relaxed feel to it and it just looks really nice. I'm going to get the brown one and just leave it as is, maybe get a clear jelly wrap for it though.

I don't know how well custom paint would work out, or how difficult it would be, but I'd guess it would be pretty difficult to get under the buttons and whatnot. But you can always give it a go, after all, its only a hundred bucks! Which is a lot, but not compared to ipods or the other zunes.

You can always buy a protection case for it and then paint that though. Thats what I would do, but only because I would be afraid to break something so nice. lol

Btw, if I had to pick, I'd pick Urban Camo, of course. :)

A friend's brother has a brown Zune and I thought it looked nice. I actually have wanted one since they came out. I probably will get the urban camo.

You know what, that is nearly tempting enough for me to get one. It looks pretty good, and it is mindblowingly cheap. If only i had some music...
