Well my Grandpa had Dementia, a form of Alzheimer's, before he passed away last July, so I am partial to the protein folding because I did not like what it did to my grandpa.

We could do multiple, then people could choose which to support.

sorry to hear that, my grandma also died from alzheimer's, i'm not sure if it was dementia or some other part of alzheimers though. so what does this folding do? i assume its similar to seti where are "spare" processing power is used to look through data. any links to what exactly folding does. i've seen it on the OC forums but never really paid any attention.

Basically, as I will learn next year when I take Biology, DNA programs the order of amino acids to create different proteins. When they are created they are really long chains of atoms. Some atoms are polar; some not. they began to fold up it to their "folded" state. When a protein mis-folds, it becomes useless. This all happens within nanoseconds but takes 30 CPU years of a super-computer to simulate.

You're exactly right, it uses your excess CPU power to "fold" proteins. My dual core works on 2 at a time because it is a single-threaded application.

ya that stuff is all flooding back to me, i took bio, chem, and physical both in 11 and 12. all those T G A and one other letter.

i will download it and see what happens.

since i've restart my pc it is now down to 1 day, not sure why but thats what it said.

It's because it tries calculating the time per frame. Did you choose the GUI or the Command Line one?

That amount of time was until the WU is due back. Or at least thats what I gather.

So, has someone set up a team yet? Or should I take the initiative to do so?
