What do all these extensions at the end of the model number mean? I've been wondering about it for a while and figure it'd help everyone if there were an explanation, lol. They must mean something.

your not talking about the difference in cards, but what the abbreviation stands for, right?
some of these are old, so yeah..

HM (HyperMemory)
SE (Special Edition)
LE (Limited Edition)
GT (Gran Turismo)
GTX (Gran Turismo Extreme)
XT (eXTreme)
XT PE (eXTreme Platinum Edition)

Difference is the specs, usually clock speed and price.
currently
Gtx ultra>gtx>gts>gt
(thats with the new gts not the old one)
but your going to have to check out reviews if you want to compare cards from different series, like an 8800 gt and a 7800 gtx

there is not GTX ultra, just Ultra and GTX. and yes there is a difference from the ULTRA vs. GTX, just might not be worth the extra money for most.

I wonder how they decide which will be what? If they just kind of wing it or do they have some kind of "gauge" or maybe they compare it to the original and if it's so much better in certain ways it becomes something else? or maybe its just how they say "this is version 1.0, this is 2.0, etc"? TBCS>TBCSXT>TBCSXTX? lol

Thats what I've always wondered.
