I am in a team for the ''F1 in schools challenge'' as I spoke a bit about here (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11239&highlight=schools)
Now that we have a design just about finished we have turned our minds to designing a logo for our team: TGS (officially it stands for 'The Green Stripe' but us being teenage boys wanted something dirty and it stands for the G-Spot)
And please dont ask how we came up with that name.....

Anyways we need help for the logo. We've done quite a few sketches but when I (the only computer literate person on the team) turn to use my rather limited skills in the gimp it somehow doesnt come together all that well.

So if some of you photoshop whizzes have a few spare moments would you mind having a go at some rough ideas? Or if anyone could just sketch an idea it would be greatly appreciated.

BTW huge +rep going to anyone that helps!!

you should ask imagispire, one of our resident artists. That's right up his alley.

Thought I would have a little go, looked good at the time , not so sure now.
Will plug the mouse in and have another go later, not easy with a laptop type mouse thingy.

Anyways , hmmmm

Just to clarify we'd like something fairly simple that we can print on t-shirts, etc. Preferably green on black.
Thanks

Going with "The Green stripe" theme, black on green, rather than green on black:

Only you guys would know what the "green spot" is.

;)

ps That's designed for a white shirt .. if the shirts are black make the text white and the background black :) ... like so:

pps Either way you are looking at two colour printing which is nice and cheap.

or three colour:

Now, your trying to look good :p

I didn't plan to have it like that, i planned to have the top of the T as the car, but it looked crap.

Nice design Calum, looks a wee bit thin though?

the block we get to make it out of is only 42mm wide and all the dimensions that we're allowed are strictly controlled so after hours of tweaking my design to fit the requirements that is what I've come up with but I have until Janurary to tweak the design so it could change completey yet!

Thanks for the effort everyone. +rep all round . Think I'll have a go at something a bit like scotty's idea but using the profile of my own design on top. I'll keep you all posted

Theres one on the staff bio page if you really want :p

So if i've done the logo what on earth is your graphics guy upto?

Does it have a weight requirement? Because there's a LOT of wood there you do not need there. Perhaps even drill some air vents that go all the way through and gently come out before they hit the CO2.

I kinda wanna build one just for the hell of it. Maybe we should have a TBCS CO2 car contest of best theoretical design.

If you put a bobble on that hat (headrest?) it would look like Santa in his "supersleigh" :D

To be honest with you I'm the driving force behind whatever goes on. The teacher that is meant to be helping us with this is utterly amazed at what I can do with SolidWorks and he's taking night classes for it!

I think the weight requirement for it is 55g and at the moment I have no idea of what this weighs!
With the holes thing I think theres a rule that says all features have to be visible in all views to stop us doing that!

Honestly not too bad of an idea noopy except it'd probably make more sense if you use an F1 tire. lol.

theres really a difference?:p

F1 tyres are about 3 times wider and are completely slick.
But thanks for the input anyway

Yeah. Aside from aesthetic differences, they also get TONS more grip because they're sticky when heated up.

Now, if you used an F1 Rain tire (which do have tread) then that would be a bit more understnadable. But the tire you used is still not wide enough to be an F1 Tire.

Greco101

F1 cars use two different types of tires. I'm not sure if they've made it a world wide rule yet but I believe every team must use the exact type of tires, one set of hard and one set of soft.

It's up to the teams strategy plan which to use first.

I tried following f1 at one point (very brief) but it's pretty damn hard considering there can be 5 different drivers in cars that all look almost identical.

looooooks sweet dude, im liking the logo,

But i would say that you can drill holes, its perfectly legal, i would think so anyway, if the teacher says anything just say its for wind resistance,

Or make the wood thinner, plain it, remove some wood somewhere else, make the support beams thinner and the such.

The lighter the better.

Well thats the rules im working from.
After reading through them theres nothing that specifically says I cant have holes in it but the thing is that it has to be manufactured completely by a CNC router so it cant be done I'm afraid.

XcOM
12-06-2007, 03:32 PM
CNC router's should beable to cut holes, im sure they can, can some one correct me on this if im wrong?

Coming up with a logo idea can be a bitch. I've only made one real logo before, and I decided to just stick with it.

Tell me about it, i just had to do one and a letter head for my Graphics course.

I filled a 30page A3 sketchbook front to back, double sided on the pages so thats 60 A3 pages of work, 50% logo design, 30% letterhead, 20% research and crap, it's alot, but if you put some time in they come out great :D

Lets just hope my tutor sees the same as me.
