I just built a system with a friend and he was on a limited budget and when we went in to purchase the parts, we were originally going to grab 1 8800 GT from eVGA. When we got there, memory express just received in their new stock of ATI cards which are the 3850 and 3870. They both have 320 stream processors which is the same as the 8800 GTX. The GT only has 120 or so. The 3850's are running 256 DDR3 memory while the 3870's are running 512 DDR4 memory. They are both 55nm and the 3870 takes up two pci slots. My friend is a bit of an ATI and AMD fanboy so we picked up 2x 3850's (because they had no more 3870's and he did not want to wait)

We set them up in crossfire on the Asus P5E with x38 chipset which allows both PCI 16x slots to actually run at 16x instead of 4x or 8x in the second slot. We also have 4 GB of memory running XP x64 to take advantage of the memory. Using a e4500 C2D on stock cooler for now and Antec 900 gamer case.

It is so quiet and is running beatifully. I have not got a chance to go over and test it our on something like crysis or not so I am itching to see how they compare. I found some benchmarks for the 3850 and 3870 compared to 8800 GT and 8800 GTX. So far one 3850 is equal and in some cases beats the 8800 GT.

So anyone have any of these new cards yet, and any benchmark results or feedback on them?

I have heard that an OC'd 8800GT can compete with a 3870. However it does run extremely hot with that crappy stock cooler. With a good one you can bring it's idle temps down to 32*c.
