Install the oldest version first. Is this where you are getting the issue? Please expand your explanation of the issue.

i have already windows xp64 on the system running...i would like to add windows 32bit onto the system now so i can have a multi boot screen letting me choose which system to run...

is there not another way? as i have loads of software and data on the current system already.

Would you consider putting the 32bit in a VM environment?

Unless you've got 30GB free to install or w/e. You should do a dual boot from scratch, less problems in the long run. Do a backup and then restore from backup on your 64-bit version.

I'm trying to dig through the cobwebs here. Obviously, you have a free partition, or are you going to put xp 32 on the second drive? Either way, you'll have to edit boot.ini, and here's an article from M$ on how to do exactly that..

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022

Of course, I recommend backing everything up first.

I still say its better to just redo you computer. You will be happier in the end.

Format it.

Reformat. You aren't going to be able to do it without losing your data*. Backup you stuff and reformat.

*Unless you have everything on a separate partition except for Windows, then you only need to delete the Windows partition during the new Windows install.

Errr ya.... that was not smart. NEVER put a HD into another PC and format. Always do it in the same machine to make sure all of the drivers match up in the end. Make a 98 boot disk and FDISK the HD you want to install your OS' to. Make 2 partitions and put 32-bit on the first, and 64-bit on the second. That should be fine. Let me know if you need more help.

Almost sure it's a problem with the drivers, try to uninstall them; using Driver cleaner (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745) and reinstall them.

Did you clear the CMOS? Are you sure you put the jumper back right? if you didn't it will drain the battery quick as quick.
