Ryoken pointed this card out to me (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127303) and I'm curious as hell why with these specs, it has to be in crossfire just to keep up with a single 8800.

Then again... look at that price!

cause the 8800's rock ass and the ati cards suck it! haha i haven't read enough reviews on ati's current/new cards vs the current/new nvidia cards but it seems ati focus's on other things for one type of performance vs the way nvidia does it. not sure if that makes any sense but i'm sticking to it!

It might've been run on a crappy system. A few of the degrading reviews for it said that 7800s and such outperformed it and I think that might've been from older components in the rest of the system.

I'm gonna get it as soon as I have the cash and I'll let you guys know how it runs. I'm upgrading my CPU soon too. I'll be sure to run benchmarks with it too.

because of a few factors:

1. ati's drivers
2. 128-bit memory bus
3. lower core clock speed
4. a little less stream processors
5. honestly theres probably a great difference in the way the core was made compared to the nvidia and differences in how instructions are executed

which 8800 btw, i didnt know it could keep up with any of them in crossfire. for the price youd be better of with a 3850

+1 for 3850, although you might benefit from the extra memory on that card. If you could find a 3870 that hasn't had its price jacked up that would be a nice grab to.

But if thats absolutely all you can spend that is a good buy as well.

Nvidia focus on raw power which makes them a winner with the enthusiast community i.e us lol. ATI (or should I say AMD) have always focused on picture quality. In reality you can either have one or the other and because of the raw power of Nvidia and the way the games today are coded Nvidia stays on top.
