Note: Review based on 360 demo alone.
You start out in a cell, taking the role of Jack Sparrow, where you just *Kick* the door off its hinges... You then pick up some kind of metal bar on the ground to pry your buddy's cell open. Next, you must go release others in nearby cells with the same little bars conveniently placed outside each cell. Of course, each animation is the same.
After the first "battle" is when it really dawned on me how much this game is lacking. Although it is quite possible in the full game that you learn new moves as you progress... in demo it is *swipe* *swipe* (guy turns his back to you) then swipe again and he dies. You can also mix it up with a punch or grab but really, the fighting is so repetitive, you'd be more entertained playing Tekken on Play Station 1. At least there is blood and a TON more combinations.
The fighting isn't the only thing that gets repetitive within the first 5 minutes... your team mate enjoys repeating himself every 5-10 seconds or so. THE ENTIRE TIME.
The game has decent graphics although there isn't much of a variety to objects, people, weapons, etc etc etc... The fact that the guy that you follow walks through closed doors is annoying from the beginng. The violence is probably around a 4/10... the movements there but the dramatic affect is at minimum - something like power rangers. That being said, it is definitely kid friendly but most likely not so entertaining for ages, I'd say, 14 and up.
It seems they just threw this game out there to help promote the movie and make a little extra money before the pirate fad died out completely. Not worth a rent/purchase but a free demo is available for 360 and PC.
My rating: 5/10
Critics rating: 5.6/10
