That's right, these babies are some killer looking speakers. I'd love to hear some though.. I'm always wary of speakers that look wicked, because they usually have way too much R&D in appearance, and not enough in audio quality.
Yes, Dell sells them. (http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Speakers_Headphones/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&cs=cadhs1&sku=A1265113)
There's a pretty glowing review on the Dell site, but the guy is talking Bose, so that means he doesnt really know what sounds good anyways. ;)

Looks like something I'd see Mac selling. :p
Good for Dell though, they're finally getting with the times. Although, those speakers aren't really my fancy. Logitech speakers are my cheese and crackers.
I like that Multimedia keyboard that Dell sells though, kind of reminds me of a Saitek.
How much is that speaker set anyways?

Lol.. .$649 on sale right now.. regular $999.
Yes, that's a ton of cash, but honestly, if they sound half as good as they look (according to a few sources, they sound better than they look!) then they are a bargain at that price. :)

If they sound nice thats cool. Those plexi/plastic style speakers just aren't my style. I really don't like the looks of those. They just look cheap, but have a huge price tag.

So Luke, have you gotten them yet? You are still paying attention to them, so I assume not.
Also, building speakers can be great fun. You almost always will get better sound for the same price compared to buying a set, or the same sound for way way way less.

I've always been a big fan of horns. The other day, the possibility of me getting my last project back (Throttle Junkie) came up, so I dug up my old build thread to show someone the project.
I was feeling nostalgic, so i looked up some of my other old threads, and found this one. A quick click, and I saw that these speakers are still available, and on sale!
As for building, I agree and I dont at the same time. Building a standard set is almost always a better idea than buying for sound quality, particularly in bookshelf size.
Once you get into floorstanders, horns, and complex multi-way designs, buying is the better option, unless you have loads of time/experience/knowledge.
