Before I can start with the Extreme Lian Li 2 I have to dismantle the first one.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/5.jpg

After one hourers it looks like this..

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/6.jpg

And 2 hours later like this.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/7.jpg

I need to clean the water cooling parts. But this is the place for the 2 tanks.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/8.jpg

Also remove the hard disk bay. It’s a nice place for the dual radiator.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/9.jpg

I have to fix a little thing than it fits.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/11.jpg

Now let’s see where I put the power supply and the 2 pumps.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/10.jpg

It’s a big case so I can change something.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/12.jpg

But to much empty space at the top part.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/13.jpg

This looks better. Where the hard disk bay sits. There will come an air tunnel to the top of the case.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/14.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/15.jpg

The power supply must go upstairs because the phase change.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/16.jpg

This times not a feet but wheels under the case.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/17.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/18.jpg

See you soon.

Starting with the drawing for the cut out.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/19.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/20.jpg

I put the whole case under the saw. :D

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/21.jpg

Not a saw broken.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/22.jpg

After some work with the vile.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/23.jpg

And it fits.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/24.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/25.jpg

Next part the radiator.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/26.jpg

This time with the Dremel.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/27.jpg

It also fits.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/28.jpg

No problem with the screws anymore.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/29.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/30.jpg

The lower part from the case.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/31.jpg

Now it’s waiting when my Canon 350 work well again. It’s broken.

I font some time to work on the case again. ;)
There is the possible to place two psu’s in this case. One at the bottom I and one in the top. I gone use the one in the top. So I start to make a whole new back. From Plexiglas and aluminum.

First part is from paper.

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/35.JPG

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/36.JPG

In the bottom part will come 2 x 80mm casefans.

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/37.JPG

Making the First part from acrylic

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/38.JPG

Some sanding work.

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/39.JPG

Cut out the inner part.

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/40.JPG

Also some sanding work.

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/41.JPG

Last part by hand.

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/42.JPG

That’s fit.

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/43.JPG

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/44.JPG

http://need-modding.nl/Foto/ELL2/45.JPG

Ready for polishing.
See you soon.

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:08 PM
Continue with the backside from the case. I think the out take at the back make some noise with all the holes. So I take it out.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/46.JPG

Out is one part. To vile is the second part.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/47.JPG

It must be straight so I need a line to see how far I can go.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/48.JPG

And than sweating.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/49.JPG

First part ready.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/50.JPG

Next part the acrylic.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/51.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/52.JPG

That’s something to handle with care. I won’t broke the small part acrylic.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/53.JPG

See you soon. ;)

Ediejo

Continue with the Plexiglas. Drawing the holes for the PSU.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/54.JPG

I saw it a little bigger than the aluminum. So the last part by hand and Dremel

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/55.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/56.JPG

Then polishing the edges.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/57.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/58.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/59.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/60.JPG

Same story only this time aluminum.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/61.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/62.JPG

I cut the part that I need with the dremel.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/63.JPG

The last part with the scroll-saw.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/64.JPG

Looks much better than with the slots upstairs the psu.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/65.JPG

It’s not 100% ready but it fit well. There is some work to do.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/67.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/68.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/69.JPG

Sanding the aluminum.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/70.JPG

Also take of the anodized part from the aluminum.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/71.JPG

The First part what been polishing.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/72.JPG

After the polish pasta, I do the same with AlU belgom.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/73.JPG

After that the same again with metal polish van autoglym.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/74.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/75.JPG

Today starting with a big vile and sanding job.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/78.JPG

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/79.JPG

That’s fit.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/80.JPG

Some drawing for the part I must saw.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/81.JPG

This is not so hard to saw.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/82.JPG

But this is really exciting to saw so close to the edge.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/83.JPG

Last part of it I will do it with file and sanding paper.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/84.JPG

Remove a part from the case and place the Plexiglas on his place. It fits nice with the side panel.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/85.JPG

The left side looks terrible but it’s so close to the edge to saw. So I keep that part for the file and the sanding paper. When I saw it so close to the edge, I think it will break when I do some work at it.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/86.JPG

See you soon.

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:11 PM
Today I started with the file job. It’s a job that takes some time. I must be careful. It’s small and Plexiglas

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/87.JPG

This is not so hard.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/88.JPG

This part will be exiting. I do it step by step. Maximum peace of Plexiglas between 2 grips 5 cm. File that part. Move the grips and do the same again.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/89.JPG

And not broken.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/91.JPG

Also for the other parts that I must file. I use the iron (Dutch name angle line) When I hit the iron with the file. It’s ready. ;)

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/92.JPG

Some close up photos.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/93.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/94.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/95.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/96.JPG

Next part for tomorrow. ;)

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:12 PM
And continue with the file job from the backside.
First lock up the Plexiglas again.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/97.jpg

Almost nothing to see but I am try to file here.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/98.jpg

And straight.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/99.jpg

Next part. ;)

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/100a.jpg

First part done. Only the fan hole to go.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/101.jpg

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/102.jpg

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/103.jpg

But that’s for tomorrow.

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:13 PM
And continue with the fanhole.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/105.jpg

The worst part is coming..

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/106.jpg

When there is 2 mm of aluminum behind the Plexiglas it’s much.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/107.jpg

And now way to use the iron to clasp it.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/108.jpg

I keep it a little bigger. I think when I make it smaller it breaks.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/110.jpg

Use sanding paper for the edges and I like t this way.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/109.jpg

It starts to look something.
http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/111.jpg

Next part same story but this time aluminum.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/112.jpg

Drawing the contours from the plexi on the aluminum.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/113.jpg

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/114.jpg

And sawing the aluminum.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/115.jpg

Still some file and sanding work to do.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/116.jpg

And polishing but that’s for next week. ;)

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/117.jpg

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/118.jpg

It will be a worse job to put some led’s in the small plexi but I try it.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/119.jpg

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/120a.jpg

See you soon.

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:13 PM
Some more file work to do.

This time I do not using the iron with the file job.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/121.JPG

That aluminum from AC-Ryan is very good to handle.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/122.JPG

First part done.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/123.JPG

But enough to do.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/124.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/125.JPG

I like t.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/126.JPG

At last the long small peace.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/128.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/129.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/130.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/131.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/132.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/133.JPG

Sanding and polishing is for tomorrow.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/134.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/135.JPG

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:14 PM
Today some sanding and polishing to do.
Starting with dry sanding.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/136.JPG

And ready with dry sanding.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/137.JPG

Continue with wet sanding.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/138.JPG

Than polishing.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/139.JPG

Almost ready, but it’s too late to continue. Tomorrow I must work early.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/140.JPG

Here you can see the difference between the two parts.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/141.JPG

Here even better.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/142.JPG

But that’s for tomorrow.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/143.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/144.JPG

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:15 PM
Finishing the polishing work at the back side, that’s for next week.
Today I start with the front. First thing is taking out the mesh part for a moment.. Sorry Lian Li.

Drill a hole.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/145.JPG

And then with the jig saw.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/146.JPG

Don’t look good.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/147.JPG

Take the file. (again)

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/148.JPG

It’s not 100% straight (right corner at the top)

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/149.JPG

But that’s for later.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/150.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/151.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/152.JPG

This is the beginning from the front there will come more plexi inside and some mesh. The color black will also disappear.

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:16 PM
And continue with the front panel. It starts to looks boring. Again file work to do.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/153.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/154.JPG

Between the file job. I have some time to drill.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/155.JPG

And file it again.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/156.JPG

Only the sanding part to do.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/157.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/158.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/159.JPG

There is also some plexi behind the holes from the buttons. Now you think maybe why?

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/160.JPG

These are really nice buttons. Because they have an edge on the bottom.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/161.JPG

Now you can see the plexi. And the buttons are working well.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/162.JPG

I put some light behind it to see the effect.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/163.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/164.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/165.JPG

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:16 PM
And continue with the front. Make a copy from the first part.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/166.JPG

And that one will come here. On the case.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/167.JPG

Marking the holes for sawing and drilling.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/168.JPG

And the saw job is done.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/169.JPG

On the case.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/170.JPG

Still some work to do.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/171.JPG

This time complete by hand.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/172.JPG

That’s fit.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/173.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/174.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/175.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/176.JPG

Maybe I use this radgrill.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/178.JPG

This morning I visit Point of View (http://www.pointofview-online.com/default2.asp?content_id=32) for a cup of coffee. No cookie at the coffee this time, but a nice suitcase. :jawdrop:

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/182.JPG

Some people will remember it from the Carbon Li.
1100Watt straight power. I love this psu killer. The cables are no problem I go for quality. ;)

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/183.JPG

Only the Point of View (http://www.pointofview-online.com/default2.asp?content_id=196) edition this time.. Tagan make good powersuplys.. I think it’s a good decision from Point of View (http://www.pointofview-online.com/default2.asp?content_id=32) to cooperate with Tagan (http://tagan.com/).

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/184.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/185.JPG

Ediejo
12-06-2007, 06:20 PM
And continue with the front. I make some plexi to mount the 2 reservoirs.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/186.JPG

I need the edges from the original front. So I can place the reservoirs exactly in the center.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/187.JPG

I use the standard mounting plates only for drawing.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/188.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/189.JPG

Dan saw the plexi.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/190.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/191.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/192.JPG

Filing and sanding.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/193.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/194.JPG

That’s fit well.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/195.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/196.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/197.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/198.JPG

Almost the same as the plexi from the front. But this is to hide the plexi for a part.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/199.JPG

Again filing.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/200.JPG

Also the small holes.

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/201.JPG

http://www.ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/202.JPG

The black anodized will be removed. And it will be polishing.

Thank you all for the compliments so far. I hope to continue the mod very soon. I was planning this weekend to continue the mod. After the Benelux Casemod League @ Gameplay (http://tbcl.nl/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=71) i take one week to load up. But I am ill now so I start to continue it next week.

Thanks a lot for the very nice welcome. I hope to come with updates next week. I can tell you that this will be a triple sli system. When the new cards from nvidia arrive. That will be feb 2008. Mainbord will be an nForce 780i and I stop with polishing. I take too much time and I have it very busy with my work so I dissected to chrome it.

After a long time an update.

the Benelux Casemod League (http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=7R2Dc_ZISTc) takes all my time. And my work the other part.

Polishing the front plate for the reservoirs.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/206.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/207.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/208.jpg

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/209.jpg

I change to real chrome. When you hit the aluminum there is a scratch on.
Also make a start for the place for the DVD rom.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/210.jpg

It will come in the top of the case.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/211.jpg

There is still enough place for the tubes.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/212.jpg

The aluminum part for the psu will change for big one. That takes the whole top part. I need that so that I can make the power connector exactly above the connector on the mainbaord.
Also looking for a place for the pump. I thought it’s a good place somewhere in the middle of the case. But it will not fix with the graphic cards. The line for the tubes where good in my eyes.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/213.jpg

So the place for the pump will be at the bottom from the case. It’s also possible to give the tubes a straight line. But the there must be come something to hold them straight. That’s for later.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/215.jpg

At the bottom there is also place for the hard disks. This is not the part that I will use for it. It’s only to look of it fits with the main board.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/216.jpg

The place is big enough. It fits with the high from the main board. Only the hard disk bay is too small. There is a big empty place behind it.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/217.jpg

This time no water cooled hard disks. I only use the water cooling for the 3 graphic cards.
I gone make a custom hard disk bay. Bigger than this one with place for 2 x 80 mm fans for the airflow.

http://ediejo.nl/Foto/ELL2/218.jpg

See you soon.
