Hey y'all, first time poster here. I am a friend of DeathCrush who is helping me go through my first case mod ever and figured I should post it up.

Ammo box (Djinn):

Because of the whole Myspace angles thing, it looks much shorter than it is. It is actually about 15 or 16".

Parts list:
CPU: AMD Athlon64 x2 3800+ Socket 939 Toledo Core 2.0 Ghz
Thermalright SI-120 heatsink w/ Arctic Silver 5
Mobo: Gigabyte Socket 939 (part # coming soon, it is currently keeping the box company back home)
RAM: Kingston HyperX 1024Mb DDR (slower than DDR2 but I have to work with the mobo)
GFX: EVGA Nvidia 8600GT PCIe 256Mb
SFX: Creative Labs Audigy2 (Swapped out from my current comp)
500W Enermax Liberty Power supply
Western Digital SATA 7200RPM 250Gb HDD
OS: Slamd64 Linux

Unfortunately, for the parts I will be relying on my dad and girlfriend :santa: . Paying for college is rather expensive after all, but I am very stoked about it.

Ammo can mods are really cool, great choice!

Oh, and you're gonna get misquoted out of context :p

Welcome to your new addiction!

Welcome to TBCS!

Thanks for the welcome. Hopefully, I will have work on the case well underway by next week. I am planning on cutting out one end to replace with Plexiglas for the outputs on the mobo. I will also be cutting a window out on the side with less lettering (though I will leave the diagonal bar running across). I plan on doing cathodes and LEDs as well. I was considering green to match the box, however, I am not sure of the result that would produce. But I will post pictures once I get this bad boy under way.

And DrumThumper, I'm honored. lol. Just out of curiosity, what kind of drum kit do you have? I am a drummer as well.

I'm currently beating on a Tama Swingstar 5 piece that is dark maroon in color. A smattering collection of cheapo cymbals that came with the set along with a Wuhan China. Iron Cobra double pedal.

Although...it's currently dismantled. Had to make room for the Christmas tree!

DrumThumper...Nice.
Requiem: Welcome to TBCS. Ammo can mods draw a crowd. I have one too, but I haven't modded it yet. When you go to cut the side, try to use a heavy duty cutting wheel. I was thinking along the lines of an air powered one. The sides are very thick, and you need something heavy to get through it.

DrumThumper: Very nice. I currently have a 7 piece Pearl Export double bass set. Unfortunately, I never get to play it since I have been going away to school for 3 years. I want to try and get an electronic drum module and mesh heads to wire it up like an electronic set so I don't piss off the neighbors in my apartment complex.

BigJohnson: My friend who goes by DeathCrush on here did an ammo box mod a few years ago. He has all the tools for it so when it comes time to work on it, I'll probably go over to his place and work on it there. But thanks for the heads up.

Welcome aboard Requiem. You're hitting a few sweet spots with me. Ammo cans, modding, percussion, LED's.. I have a can just like that one. It's about 12 years old.

Update:

Hey y'all I figure I better give ya an update.

I have acquired a fair number of parts for the box. Graphics card, PSU, chip, RAM. I still need an OEM heatsink for the CPU and HDD to get this bad boy up and running.

I started measuring and cutting the case as well. Once I get the panels cut out and replaced with some Plexiglas I will post some pictures to show the cases progress.

The top cut will be for the PSU, the bottom for the cards and inputs.

I will be putting a cathode behind the bar that runs across the middle and the blue coloration is just the film on the Plexiglas to keep it from getting scratched.

Right now the only thing that is holding this up is the CPU has still not come in. It has been almost 2 weeks. Needless to say, I am not pleased.
