Almost a year ago, my mom bought me a 3 piece bedroom set which ran around 5-6000 dollars... extremely nice set. Well... Just yesterday my bed decided to break. My tiny gf was sitting on the side of the bed and the other side just dropped.
I checked it out and the screws just pulled right out. They used 2 different sets of screws for one job and only used 4 of 5 that should have been in there. Also turns out that they also used the wrong screws on the cross bars and the screw heads were smaller than the holes they went in so they were screwed to the edge, as if hanging a picture... Enough to keep it there, but could be pulled off easily.
Well... turns out the the place we bought it from went outta business. Imagine that.

Metal works good for screwholes too. Just put a piece over where you need the screws and drill holes in it.

i second that one. Also if you have them laying around jam some toothpicks in with some wood glue and let set. Cut the extra off sand smooth and presto instant wood plug. But make sure its completely set before you screw anything in or you'll just rip the patch out.
"those things are badass! i was playin with one in the home depot the other day. good stuff." -- I'm thinking of keeping clear of that Home Depot. Can anyone say Happy Gilmore?

Just sitting on the bed, last time it took some serious stuff to break a bed ;)
Just mod it, just some dictionaries/encyclopedias to hold it up. Worked for me, till i needed a dictionary.
