It's been open for a week exactly but the 1st week was for subscribers only at www.fileplanet.com
Starting tomorrow it will be open beta for all! After years... and years... and years of production. I have read a lot of good and a lot of bad so I have a lot of mixed ideas in my head so can't tell ya how it is.
Big download, so be prepared.

Looks interesting. Will this game come into full production? Or will it be like Ragnarok Online? Subscription fees?.

Well the retail version of the game came out and I got it for the girlfriend. She love pirates and books on them and all that. Its installing now/patching. We will see how it is. Im sure she will like it. Who knows maybe ill have to get it and an account too.
As with all SOE games, patching is taking forever. Hopefully it will speed up the second time around and not have to check the files EVERY single time lol. I don't mind, but that might drive her nuts as she is waiting very anxiously to try the game lol.

I don't know. She's been playing and i used the 14day trial key to try it at the same time as I was anxious as well. She seems to love it. But for me ehh, idk. The swashbuckling stuff is cool, but the boat crap just pisses me off. Maybe the pvp aspect will be better but the npc's once they get hurt just go upwind (about twice as fast as you can) and heal up. They don't even try to attack you or anything. I spent 30 min tryign to kill some npc ship before i gave up. IDK perhaps this game is not for me.

It's a very laid back game and takes a lot of patience which is weird because I enjoyed it and have 0 patience.
I hated the swashbuckling because there isn't really any skill needed like they made it seem. It's a "your turn, my turn" sorta play and that annoys me. I enjoyed the ships, upgrading, modifying cannons, sails, etc... The game also has a pretty in depth economy system where you can become a self efficient ship maker which will make you A LOT of money but you need a couple of accounts to do it "right." (much more money)
I loved beta but I decided not to get the game.

Sounds like a cool game but I'm done with MMORPGs... quit WoW and I have a lot more time, lol...

Ya the girlfriend loves it. Shes already at like level 10 or something. Ill have to give it another go. I just couldn't deal with a 45min ship battle that everytime I had the guy down to a sliver of life he would zip upstream and heal to full. Stupid NPC's.
Then again it wasn't even my ship it was some default ship that you had to use because it was all that was there. It was just frustrating.
She loves it so thats good. Eventually ill give it another go.
