256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130062)
XFX
PVT73GUGF3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150185)
BFG
BFGE85256GTE GeForce 8500GT 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143104)
two dx9 and a dx10. i'm not creating a monster/gaming rig either so i dont really need the 8800's. most of the games i play are racing games from the "need for speed" series and/or kind of old FPS and age of empire type of games.
i'm having the hardest time at choosing the card because of the DX10 and DX9 thing. i provably wont be using Vista so DX10 isnt required but i dunno if i should get a dx9 card.
hopefully i gave you enough info to help me choose, if you guys have another card in mind that will meet the budget, please let me know thanks.

i would first get the 8600gt but failing that grab the 8500gt, it can handle crysis on medium, so should you want to try a new game you can.

i like my eVGA 8600GT superclocked, with a bit of volt modding i have the third best 3d mark score on eVGA's mod rig contest (http://www.evga.com/community/ModsRigs/).
here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010380048%2050001402%201305520548%20106791921%2 01067928607&bop=And&CompareItemList=N82E16814130085%2CN82E16814130091% 2CN82E16814130311%2CN82E16814130290%2CN82E16814130 292) are all the eVGA 8600gt cards ranging from SC, SSC, 256mb ad 512.
if i can save up the cash i might get a second one and go sli and try for first place.
also you can do a step up to a better card should you fall into some money within 90 days.

Dude, the guy above you only is higher because of his cpu pretty much. The first place person is only up there because he's running in sli. Good job dude. If it was all about the gpu, id have you ranked #1.
To OP. The 7600Gt is a decent card. My old system had 2 7600gs in it and ran ~5000 in 3dmark06. The GT is substantially faster than the GS so it should do well for you for current games. New ones it will struggle, even in sli, but hey, so does dual 8800's lol.

Shell out the extra and get an 8800GTS or if you can the GT.
EDIT: This should answer your question about HDCP ready.

the 2x7600s should get some decent performance. be about on par with a 7950gt or a x1900xtx

Then it's worth just getting a 7950GT, they are fairly cheap cards and it still gives you room to get another later down the track.
