No, it's 1GB. As someone pointed out, look at the description compared to the title. Description says 1024MB.

No it wouldn't, 512MB is overkill for a 8600GT let alone a 8500GT.

Its Exactly 1 gb, 1024=1 gig. Not 1000.

Thats what, two screens at 1280x800...be nice to have that full res on one monitor, but I don't have one that high.

I have no clue why you would need that much memory on a card like that. Its probably because people who don't know much about them think the higher the memory the better the card.

Having just explained to my mother how a 256 MB Radeon x1950Pro is superior to a 256 MB 7600GS, which in turn kicks a 256 MB 6200 down the block, I can say with some authority that that's exactly why this is done.
