I know it costs alot but the fact that it has 2 gtx's in sli, its worth it. Any suggestions? Anything missing(besides the case and mouse)?

Just 1 hard drive? Just 1 Raptor? Invest in a 160GB 7200RPM atleast.

Don't bother with the Q6700 Not worth it, go for the Q6600, it overclocks just as well, and saves you cash.

Do you need 28"? Remember 24" screens put out the same reslution, you could get a sharper picture and maybe lower in price too.

Why cut down to a 680i LT, go for a full fledge 680i, although i have no idea what the differences are. XD

Thats one ****ing expensive cooler, it might have a TEC in but if the fan can't get the heat away that spells big problem. I've never heard of that cooler before or seen a review so no idea how well it performs, just get a Thermalright Ultra Xtreme and a beasty fan, then spend the other money you've saved elsewhere or keep it.

TECs also put alot of stress on the PSU

Ive read the reviews on the cooler and people say they can keep theyre cpu's at 29* C on HEAVY LOAD. As for the CPU, im not planning on overclocking.... although since the cooler is so good....

If you aren't overclocking don't bother with a $130 cooler!

AS thermalright ultra extereme thing and a good fan and a case with nice airflow can keep your CPU just as cool.

But as i said maybe since its such a good cooler i might think about it.

I have a 900MHz OC with my $30 AC Freezer 7 Pro. You don't need a $130 cooler, unless it's a waterblock. Especially because it has a TEC, which will raise your power consumption 50W at load, resulting in the possible need for a beefier PSU and higher electricity prices (I know you're 13 and don't pay it, but when your parents ask why they have a $300 bill for a month, you'll have no excuse).

Like Scotty said, get a full fledge 680i, not the LT. You're already spending $3,100, so you may as well get the best you can. Look into EVGA too, they have a better warranty and perform awesome. You also won't have 2 annoying chipset fans, only 1. And besides, green PCBs are so old school.

Again, like Scotty said, 28" monitor, not necessary. Unless you are a video or photo editor and need all the space you can have for programs, save some money, get a 24" or slightly larger.

If you get 8800GTXs, get EVGA cards. In February when the 9xxx come out, you'll be able to step up to them if you want.

And, by taking the above suggestions, do yourself a huge favor and buy another hard drive. 74GB will fill in no time at all, trust me. Some games are taking 8GB+, and you'll be out in no time.

well either way it looks like a good setup. if you not getting it for a while (2-3 months or more) then wait for the 790i and get a 45nm quad and some DDR3 ram.

I think $3100 is too much to spend. All those high end components will get cheaper within the next six months. The power supply and CPU cooler are too expensive. But it is your money to spend. More power to you if you can afford it.

I didn't see if anyone else said this but Q6700? For $300 less your talking the Q6600 that is ONLY 266mhz less.

Same deal as others about that cpu cooler.

I thought the same thing about the psu.

The new Gts do almost as well, slightly better in some games, for half the price.

If you have the money, go for it. If your parents are going to buy it for you than you might as well go for it if your family is lucky enough to afford it. You could get performance very close to that for $1000 less, which could be used to upgrade later, but I know parents. You get it now, so get what you want, because they might not "remember" about the money you saved them to put towards upgrading. :p

Good luck buddy,

wish I was getting a gift like that!

Get the stuff from newegg first of all :P

Second, I would go with the new GTS's instead of the GTX's...but that's just me :P

Also, yes go with the Q6600, and a 24" screen.

Ohh, sorry for assuming your parents were getting it. If its your money why do you need it in 2-3 days? Thats why I just assumed.

If its your money I recommend changing some of the parts mentioned. Not worth the money in my opinion, less you have money to waste. As you said the rig your coming up with now should be better and cheaper, so good luck.

P.S. what the heck do you do for work for that kinda money? Are paper routes paying more these days, or do you have one hell of an allowance? :D

Ohhh, wait, your birthday was just recently... that might have helped your funding. Sorry, was just wondering...didn't mean to stick my nose in business that wasn't mine.

Long as your not dealing or anything. I'd have to come through the internets and give you a modders arse whopping. Boys, Grab your dremels and some zip ties, we might have an issue with this one. :smoker:

Yup :D

Performs amazingly well, with a good fan gets close to some cheap pre-built Watercooling kits too.

Damn 20k, wanna buy me 2 24"ers? I thought 5k inheritance was a lot =\

2 x 2GB is better, less things for the NB and stuff to cope with so usually overclocks and runs more stable.

You obviously have some cash to burn, so don't settle for anything less than Noctua fans. They're like $20 a piece, but push more air and are quieter than the quietest fans out there.

Well now im pissed because i foundout i live in one of the 3 states that newegg charges a tax on, so it should cost 2.5k, but with tak and shipping its 2.7k without the case!

Also im pissed that i dont have a copy of windows XP(came stock on all my systems) But i only get a student discount on the vista update, but not the full ver. And please dont talk to me about not getting vista, i just wont be able to live with the fact that i dont have the latest technology. Also im not spending about 3k on an sli system just to not get vista and not be able to use dx10

Im using ACRyan Blackfire4 Fans, for everything XD

So i have 120mm one on my Rads, another 2 at the top and 1 for my harddrive cooling, then 92mm ones for the other spots :D

Specs:

---------------------80mm -- 92mm -- 120mm
Power Consumption--1.3W-- 1.9W -- 2.8W
Fan speed (RPM)----2500 -- 2500 -- 2000
Noise level (dB)------22.18 --25.24-- 28.95
Airflow (CFM)--------32.37 --43.40 --77.70

They pull a great amount of air and are pretty silent.

If you can't get a student license on the full version, buy XP and the upgrade. It might be cheaper than the full version. Otherwise, buy the full version from Newegg. And like you said, you're getting 2 DX10 cards, so you might as well utilize them. I'm getting Vista pretty soon myself, because I just ordered an 8800GT.

Are we ever going to see the updated parts list?

+1 to that. You want the 512MB GTS's, not the 640MB. Either that, or the GTX's.

Also, you'll need more than 1 fan if you're cooling all that. I don't know if your case comes with any, but right now I'm running 4 fans on an E6600 and 1 X1600Pro. Quad core = lots 'o heat. 2 GTSs = lots 'o heat.

The one fan was for the heatsink. Supposably this case has amazing cooling because of the front fan is HUGE

If you get 8800GTXs, get EVGA cards. In February when the 9xxx come out, you'll be able to step up to them if you want.

One thing to keep in mind on the EVGA "Stepup" program is that you have to upgrade the cards within 30 days of the purchase, and also pay the difference between the old and new card. I also recommend the BFG video cards, because it has a lifetime warranty. I thought this was probably just a scheme that won't really pan out, but a friend of mine just got his 4+ year old 6800GT fixed for free. Which makes me wish I had gone BFG instead of EVGA since my year and a half old 7900GT is giving me problems :(
