This is just amazing looking. This guy uses infrared glasses along with a tracking camera to create the illusion of a 3D virtual reality image on the TV, and combines it with the Wii. I can't really describe it, the best thing to do is to watch.

I can absolutely see Nintendo taking this and using it. Even more so, if they did take this tech and implement it into certain games, I would honestly be much more prone to go buy a Wii, or if I already had one, buy the games that would use this technology. Why wouldn't I? It looks fun!

The best part is, you don't need an entire room to jump around in. If you have a smaller room, then you most likely have a smaller TV too. Which, in my head at least, means less moving around. I think thats how it would work isn't it? It would take less movement to reach one side of the screen to the other, whereas on a larger TV, it would take more movement. Meh, sounds right to me at least. I'm sure if it doesn't work that way, then they can probably make it work that way. If not, then like I care, I would still buy it. lol

On another note, I just thought of the sweetest thing ever. They could make a "Wii Assault Rifle", and have the sweetest FPS game EVER. Can you imagine playing CS:S or other similar games while using this technology?!

Just means more profit for them. They get both hardcore gamers and their current audience, which is pretty much everyone else.

Mucho Profit

With a bit of work, someone can make a DIY TrackIR system for your computer.

You know what else this would be PERFECT for? Puzzle games. EVERYONE loves puzzle games. Just look at how well Portal did, let alone the fact that I have either never even seen or can remember an ad for Portal other than the Orange Box commercials, which put more emphasis towards HL imo.

I think thats where they would really make the money though. The video is a perfect example.

"Lets see, I have to somehow shoot the target behind this one..."

LOL dose anyone remember the classics like donkeykong and Mario. Wait Idea bring them back and use this. I remember sonic..... Crappy new knock offs of it! *rant* any ways awesome wish I had money to try this. I could see Zephik idea with the FPS or Racing games. Wow you could do it with any game. Only one problem is that it would only work with one person at a time....

Not necessarily. How many games have you played where the multiplayer is on one screen? Most games divide up the screen into quadrants of 2, 3 or 4. Think of Mario Kart for the N64 for a good example.

So as long as you had multiple VR sets, you could definitely have multiple players, since you can have multiple screens within one screen.

But, then again, you would also have to figure out how to incorporate coding with the VR sets or something. So I couldn't control your screen and vise versa. But I'm sure thats possible, think of the Dish DVR system. One box (the DVR box), two controllers. Controller one, can't control TV two and vise versa.

Yeah,

I love this type of technology. I bought one of these this from Track IR. It actually works with a ton of games and is well supported. Great piece of gear.

i tried it and it was ok, though i had to use my pen from the white board and a tv remote for a second light. it looks alot more impressive in the video.

This is mildly unrelated, but if you close your eyes and listen to the video, it sounds like it's being narrated by Kermit the Frog.
