can't play battlefield 2 wtf?

Tried playing battlefield 2 and it keeps popping up the battlefield 2 EA picture, then says "BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Try uninstalling, reboot, reinstall, install all current patches? I know it sucks but there really isn't any information to go on here.

If you were playing single player before make sure you back up your save files before you go reinstalling.

I had to take all the files off of my BF2 CD on to a folder on my desktop. Then install from that folder. You just had a bad install.

sounds like something got corrupt. definately reinstall. is this running on windows xp or vista?

Sorry for not updating. Problem was fixed after reformat (many other cd drive related problems.) Not sure what happened but the reformat got it. (thankfully it wasn't hardware.)
