I don't know everything yet, but what I'm aware of (I'll keep you posted):

-Foxconn N570SM2AA-8EKRS2H (AM2, nF570)
-Cooler Master RP-650-PCAR (pretty damn sure it's a rebadged Seventeam but I haven't actually gotten a look at it yet)
-2x1GB OCZ PC26400 4-4-4-15
-250GB WD SATAII/16MB

...Which of course are going in with:

-A64 3500+ (I've had it on the shelf for most of a year; traded a blue-tinted 17" CRT for it)
-Visiontek Radeon x1950Pro 256MB ($66 AR)

So... finally upgrading. :D

I made this thread already, last year =p

Whatever.

I've got a $150 thinkgeek gift certificate, a $100 starbucks gift card (both from my grandma ftw), not got anything else yet. My dad hinted at getting me the case I wanted (CM Stacker 830) or a 22" widescreen LCD monitor (I told him I'd prefer the case because I like having identical monitors atm).

I told my father what I want (dad = step-father, father = birth father) and I've no clue what he's got me (and I probably won't find out for another week when I see him). He did bring up that my mom probably wouldn't be able to afford the main thing I wanted (xbox 360) and I think that's the case since my mom's informed me that I'm getting an envelope (what it contains inside only god and my mom know... =p).

She actually apologized to me. I was like "Hey, Sara's still alive and you're still here too. I'm glad for that. I'm glad that Grandma's here for christmas, too. I'm glad for the important things, so don't apologize. I can guarantee you I'd be just as happy getting nothing."

tack-on:

My dad just called me asking me where he could find a CM Stacker 830 (pretty much seals the deal that I'm getting one) but he told me he's gone to Fry's (hour drive each way), CompUSA, PC Club, etc and not found one. The one place he didn't look? Office Depot. The one place that has it? Office Depot.

Go figure.

EDIT:

I got peace in my household and the love of my family.

So far I know I got a kiwi!

My girlfriends family puts a fruit in the stockings, and since this is our first year in our own apartment celebrating by ourselves in the morning, we decided to continue that tradition.

When we were at stop & shop the self checkout was acting up and I went to help her and saw the kiwi on the screen.

So ya, I know Ive got a kiwi. Ohhh, and some bed pants. Those soft flannel type ones. Haven't seen it yet, but she gets me a pair every year.

Will check back once I know of more things.

Isn't it great living in Australia? I live in the future! I get everything before you - it's been Christmas day for well over 10 hours now, and I get the news before you too, so I can let you know if you're suddenly going to be hit by a meteor or something, so you can get away in time :p

Wow Elenril, I just looked through your list. That is a nice list. *drools*

I don't know what my family got me. When my cpu started acting up they wanted to get me one of those. When I told them how I got the 360 to play with my brothers but theirs is broken and how I should have gotten a ps3 to play with my other brother they wanted to get me one of those. I told them I didn't need anything though, because material crap feels good for a couple days and then I just don't tend to care about it anymore. We will see what I get.

xRyokenx
12-24-2007, 10:15 PM
because material crap feels good for a couple days and then I just don't tend to care about it anymore.

I agree with ya dude. I'd much rather do something memorable than have some item that I end up not associating with the giver after a few days, lol. Sure stuff is nice, but hell, I'd much rather have a girlfriend to go do stuff with than a really nice computer or any crap like that, lol.

NightrainSrt4
12-24-2007, 10:22 PM
Ya, lately ive been in a mood where I don't really care about material stuff. Thats why for my girlfriends birthday instead of buying her things I took her to a The Receiving End Of Sirens concert. Great band. They put a lot of energy into their concerts. Then took her to dinner. Just felt better than giving her something she'd use for a week then put up on a shelf or something.

Not to derail the thread though.

I know tomorrow I will get the gift of being with my family. Means more to me than anything. I have breakfast and Christmas with my girlfriend in the morning right when we wake up. Then we go to my family for lunch/dinner. Then to her families for a late dinner. Just being with people we care about is enough of a gift for me.

I'll be opening gifts tomorrow morning... 12 hrs from now. Then, I'll be opening gifts again this weekend with the rest of the family.

I agree with the material thing comment above too. People have been asking me what I want, but I really dont know... I've been thinking more and more about making my sons first Christmas memorable, and I think that everyone will remember it, but he's only 7 months, so he wont remember it. :P Oh well...

Maybe next year we'll just go somewhere for Christmas as a family.. I think that a week in the mountains and snowmobiling/skiing would be better than gifts anyways. So we'll just donate gifts and some time for helping some less fortunate people. :)

I agree, spending time with people you care about is the best present. So that was my family's plan.... Now we are all at my cousin's house. My mum drove off 4 hours ago with my 2 uncles to have coffee, my other 2 aunts are sitting in the living room in awkward silence (they hate eachother), my 2 cousins are playing soul calibur and my younger cousin is throwing a tantrum because he lost. I am on the computer, eating chicken drumsticks. I don't know if I'll get to go to lunch with my dad tomorrow, and I'm not going to see my boyfriend or any of my friends until new years eve.

Great family get-together, don't you think?

Here's what I recieved for Christmas this year.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0540.JPG

This is a Tibetan chime, which I really like. It's hand made in India, and has a real nice sound to it.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0541.JPG http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0542.JPG

I also love this. It's an actual piece of the Berlin wall. Part of my attraction to the wall, is that it started being built on August 13th 1961, which is my mom's exact birth date. And it was torn down in November 1989, the week I was born. It has a certificate and everything.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0543.JPG http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0544.JPG

A 24" Samsung LCD monitor was my biggest gift this year.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0545.JPG

Since I'm going to be an engineer, they got me this robot kit which I can build in any way I want, and it has a camera on it too.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0546.JPG

I really love the look of this aquarium. The look of metal with acrylic, looking modern while still having a natural feel to it. Tomorrow I'm going to heead out to get some fish.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0547.JPG

This is a 300 piece puzzle of the town I live in. There's a piece in the middle shaped like a house, and it's the piece that contains where I live.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0548.JPG

A language translator. This will be great for me, since I plan on learning two foreign languages and studying abroad.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0549.JPG

Well, I'm 18 but I look young. I don't even really have facial hair yet. But you know what, it's starting to come in just a tiny bit. Now I can shave it all off.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0550.JPG

Very useful. It's a flashlight that you wind up in the back, and the light is 3 LEDs. An efficient machine.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0551.JPG

Now, a bird is something I've wanted, but I've always had cats so I never could. Well now I have a robotic parrot that can speak and learn new words and all of that.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0552.JPG

Now this is something I really need. A GPS for my car. I have memory issues with having mild autism, ad I absolutely cannot remember directions. I'm going to have to start going to school every week though, all the way in Warwick. So this is great for me to have.

http://codeinsurrection.com/pics/christmas2007/DSC_0553.JPG

I hope you've all had a wonderful day so far.

I gave away two complete computer systems. Both are capable of running XP. I realized that I just can't keep abundant amounts of computer junk like I used to. I had to buy a power supply and a couple other little things to make one of the PCs work, but it is worth it to get rid of the stuff.

Thanks to this forum for showing me DBAN. I think SgtM was the one who posted it but I'm not certain. I used it on all the old junk hard drives I had.

I used the $100 I got from my aunt to buy myself Guitar Hero 3 :)

That's a fun game. I played Rock Band at a friend's house yesterday and it's pretty good too... we had three people playing. Good times.

I got the Son of God who spoke of love and died for my sins. And my wife made waffles.

Life is good.

Life is good. I'm not a Christian though, so Christmas isn't a religious thing for me.

I got nothing other than to watch my 2 daughters ages 5 and 10 months smile as they got a few things they really wanted. That was enough for me. As far as actual presents i got nothing thus far. I did however build a new computer chair for myself. Will have to post pictures because it is so unique.

+1 to that. Well, technically, I am, but I have chosen my own beliefs.

That's how I am. I just have my own combination of ideas, and don't follow one specific religion. And it's good to have ideas rather than beliefs. Ideas can change more esily. Christmas itself is not a religious holiday, but it can be used to celebrate whatever you want to. If you want to celebrate the birth of Jesus, that's just fine, but it doesn't have to be about that.

It appears, that i got some interest on my bank.

My bank gave me a nice xmas prezzie, more than i got from my whole family. I love my bank. At the same time it appears my mum is taking small amounts of money almost weekly... thief! Ill ask her WTH she's doing with it 2moz, probably only to be told, you owe me... Not that i have bought anything weekly that costs that much...

Yes i check my bank at *looks at clock* ****! 3:24AM >.<

Banks are awesome, for people like me and you, who dont spend their money as soon as the get it. I really dont know how much money i have, cause my parents set up my CD's and stuff, but i know one of them hit 10K recently and knowing that your making money doing nothing, is well, AWESOME. :D

I wish I made money doing nothing =p

Also, my dosh hits the account the moment I deposit it, that's nice

Anywho, got the Case today, installed my computer (god it's like a modular case, it's got a removable mobo tray, a removable psu mount, a removable HD rack, a removable fan rack, etc, freakin' insane) in it and everything went well. Glad I got a new PSU as well -- the last one kept making a hissing noise at me.

Anywho, new case (no 80mm fans at all, it's got 4 120's, a 92 on the cpu, and whatever's on the gpu, oh and a 135 on the PSU) is really quiet, loudest thing is my old 80gb IDE hard drive reading data and such (can't wait to replace that).

I had to work Dec 24,25,26 night shifts so when I got home on Christmas morning, my 4 year old daughter met me at the door jumping and screaming about how Santa had been to our house and left the presents. I got to watch my daughters (4 & 2) get so excited opening their gifts. I think this was one of my best Christmases ever, even though I was working.

I got:
-$125 Cash
-$50 to Circuit City
-$100 to Amazon.com
-A 6' Wide Mushroom chair!

I got the cash a while ago, and bought mahself a Logitech G9 mouse (which I reviewed for you guys). Then, on christmas eve, when i got the Amazon gift-certificate, I bought Unreal Tournament III and just got it today.

My friend is the lucky one though. He's needed a new computer for a while, but he hasn't had the money for one. Well this christmas, his Dad quite literally came up to him (I was there) and said "Do you want a new computer for christmas?". Of course he's turning to me to build this computer. By the way he has a $2000 budget! Heres what I've picked out for him so far:
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
-2GB Patriot DDR2-800
-ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus
-evga 8800GT 512MB
-250GB Hard Drive
-Hiper Anubis Case w/ Purple LED fans
-Logitech G9 (He liked mine so much)
-24" Acer LCD Monitor
Ahh, to have rich parents...

Anyway, it looks like everyone had a pretty kick-ass christmas. Now, on to new years

My Christmas went pretty well, aside from the disposal scare. I got:

1- Xbox 360 Blue wireless controller

2- Warriors Orochi for Xbox 360 (Great game if you like the dynasty/samurai games)

3- Mini bowling game

4- Lots of candy

5- New tape measurer, some cool screwdriver with pulse action tips or something crazy that works with magnets.

6- 26" craftsman tool box

7- Craftsman handheld reciprocating scroll saw with laser line (have to find what to do with the lower end Black and Decker Jigsaw I got last month as the new one is way better).

8- Craftsman 15V drill, but they are returning that as the one I already have is better.

9- New boxers

10- Various gift cards (Dunkin Donuts, visa debit, amc movies)

Soon to be a cat/kitten as the permission I got for the girlfriend.

I'd get Rock Band, it's a lot more fun when it comes to the guitar (and has the drums and vocals which are pretty cool too) and the graphics are a little easier on the eyes as far as I'm concerned. Or you could rent both and try 'em out and find which you like more. Both are pretty fun games though.

GH2 is ~$75. Rock Band is ~$160. I'm cheap, and GH2 has YYZ by Rush =p
