Updating WC Components, Sugjestions plz.

Hey guys.

I finnaly got the go ahead to buy some new parts. I'm getting a new block for my CPU and getting a block for my graphics card. I'm getting a D-Tek Fusion CPU block because i hear they are like the cats ass of CPU blocks. I do however need a sugjestion for the grafix card. I was looking at the Fusion vga block but it seems rather large and the fittings wont fit my tube, aswell it doesnt come with ram sink's.

So, would the Fusion vga block be my best bet allthough i'd have to buy new fittings and ram sink's. Or is there a better block that comes with sink's and the proper fittings?

BTW, my tube is ID:3/8 OD:1/2

9 times out of 10 the barbs on a block can be replaced for a size what suits you... just make sure that the barb you buy can fit in the holes on the block, it should be clearly listed on the product you buy!

also order the new barbs on the day you make the order because you will be dissapointed to find that you have connections to something you cant use xD

cant comment too much on the gfx block other then there like a rock to your ships rudder to find one what fits your card including ram cooling also they can get pricey, iv got a 7800gt and iv got a alphacool block (http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php/cPath/33_198/products_id/1730) on mine

I agree with Spawn, the Swiftech MCW-60 combined with some good RAM sinks is a great block (I am using one on my 8800GTX, this block out performs the Danger Den full coverage by 1-2*c), If I'm not mistaken Spawn also has one, or was going to get one.

For a CPU I would recommend a Swiftech Apogee GTX, I will be using one on my Q6600 (I have already bought it). If not the Apogee GTX I would go for one of those new Danger Den TDX water block.

I didn't know they made a copper topped GTX :eek:. Damn I should have waited lol. The copper should shave a few degrees off the aluminium version.

BTW J-roc, I'm not sure if Canada spells Suggestion differently, but if it doesn't, then it has two G's and not a J.

That doesn't work too well for me living in Australia because Firefox is American, it has an American spell checker and tells me half my words are wrong.

Sorry D1337, i tend to spell things how they sound. Sound it out, its a j not a g... :P

Anyway. In all the reviews i've seen, the Fusion cpu block out performs the apogee GTX even if the apogee has a "bow".

Oh, i should also mention that reading the description from the site your buying from is much better than the manufactures site (in most cases). The blocks come with 2 sets barbs so i should be fine there.

I guess i also have to get some thermal grease for the new blocks. Is there a specific grease better suited to WC systems? I'm fairly sertin that Arctic Silver is one of the best brands out there. I just dont know which compound is best. There have Polysynthetic Silver, Silver, Ceramique, and Alumina. Which is best? They cost within a few bucks of each other, i just want the best.

Some people use it for W/Cing setups, because it binds to block, which keeps it from slightly twisting from the flow.

This, will also bind to your block, but is THE BEST for heat transfer.

Cermique is good, but not as good as as5, BUT its not conductive, so if your afraid you may use to much and get some on your mobo/pins it wont short out any components.

Alumina will also bind to your block. Same quality As5

**By "binding" i mean, it will basically be glued to your block and component, so your not going to ever be able to switch out blocks, which come to think of it, isnt that bad...

I use Arctic Silver 5, it can effectively cut temps by anywhere between 3-6*c depending on the cooler and environment. If you can get your hands on it I would recommend Arctic Cooling MX-2, it is still made by the same company that make Arctic Silver but this supposedly cools around 2*c cooler than AS5.

it's mainly for people who are worried about galvanic corsosan. i am not but i want the look and slight performance increase that it may or may not give. if it can give a 1-2C drop it will be on par with a Fuzion, and look wayyyy better!
