I just built my first computer with no trouble. It's been working great, and today i hooked up a second monitor and set it to run in span view. But when i try to run COD4, my computer either freezes or turns my desktop into 800x600 with horrible color. Then i have to restart and re-adjust my monitors.

This was happening with WOW too, but i was able to put it into windowed mode to make it stop, i don't see windowed mode on COD4 so i was wondering if you guys could help. :D

well to kick start your not going to be able to play a game on two monitors if thats what the dual monitors are for...

the other easy thing to try is to make sure your good "gaming" monitor is the number one display in the display panel in the control panel, it might be trying to play off the wrong one. and try and have the res of the two fairly close together..

Well...i have the two monitors set up in one resolution (3360x1050) so when i start the game it goes into both monitors. I guess what i really need is a way to keep the game in one monitor.

P.S. in the display panel is shows them as one monitor.
...i hope i'm making sense

Shows 2 monitors as one??

What graphics card are these running off?

Are they through a Maxtrox double/triple head thingy or any other VGA boxes?

I run dual monitors, of course, 2 different sizes (17 and 20"/1280x1024 and 1680x1050) My games if even set to full screen go into the main monitor, but they are also set in Windows as two separate ones not one large one.

That's exactly the problem, you choosed the wrong configuration; try dual view insteed of span view.

Okay, thanks for the help :P

Edit: Now my background that is in 3360x1050 isn't completely showing, is there a way to have duelview and see the entire wallpaper?
Edit #2...I'm running it off of a Nvidia 8800GTS. I just have one DVI cord going to one monitor and a DVI to VGA converter with VGA going into my second monitor.

hay.. well there is and there isnt.. you sorta need to juggle the resalution of the two to get a good picture.. the display panel what nivida have is more fine tuned then the one in windows.. also changing what monitor is primary makes a differance too

plus the converter thing is cool, there wont be any problems with it..

Im also running a DVI>VGA for my second monitor, so that shouldn't be the problem.

In the Nvidia Control Panel (should be able to access it through right-clicking the desktop) Go to 'Set up multiple displays' Set it to 'Dual view'. You might need to play atound if it still sees it as one large one. You could unplug one monitor, then after windows boots reconnect it, that way it should see it as a new different one :)

Set the wallpaper to "TILE" to have it stretch across both monitors. :)

Check out a utility called Ultramon
http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/

Its the best 40 bucks I have spent when it comes to dual monitors.
Some of the features I like are:
The ability to run in dual view, but have the wallpaper stretch across both monitors.
The ability to turn my secondary monitor off on the fly when I am gaming.
Running a different screensaver on each monitor can be fun.

I can't live without it now.. heh

You can download it free to try, and there is a beta for Version 3 out there as well.

Good luck and hope this helps
