Got the new rig built, and now I'm on the installation process. I can't install the video drivers, though; the error message I get is "INF Error Video Driver Not Found". I've tried the instructions here (http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/11730/) to no avail.
I suspect the reason those instructions don't work is because when I follow them, it bluescreens after copying the files. However, when it comes back up, it has installed the drivers partially - Device Manager acknowledges them, but the ATi installer doesn't, nor does the Display Properties window (though I can choose higher resolutions, up to 1920x1200 and then some, I believe).
Stop error: 0x0000007E (OxC0000005, 0xB5AFBE7A, 0xF78D65C0, OxF78D62C0)
It implicates ati2mtag.sys - address B5AFBE7A base at B59B4000.
(That's probably useless but I'll post it anyway.)
Anybody got any clue what's going on? It's Windows XP Professional SP1 (haven't updated yet) if that makes a difference; a legit copy, even. I'm using Catalyst 6.4 because that's what I have on here and I didn't feel like redownloading, plus it's been stable (and new ATi drivers generally aren't). The card's a VisionTek x1950Pro 256MB. (The drivers I was attempting to use were for the x1900 series.)
Thanks, guys!
