It's cool in concept but Top Gear tested it and it was pretty mediocre on the track, it ran just a tad slower than a Subaru Impreza WRX STi.
I'm of the mind that if I would get a car with a big, meaty engine for the price they'd probably sell at I'd get the nice wheelbase too, and a proper suspension and everything. I'd choose a Noble or an Ascari or something like that over the GTI W12.

well no **** lol. That's like saying you'd choose a 911 turbo or an RS4 over a mazda speed 6.

Keep in mind this is a 650whp golf and not a normal one.
For the money you'd pay, I wouldn't buy it.
Just like I wouldn't buy a Mazda 6 or an RS4 for 911 GT3 money. I'd buy the 911 GT3, Even if the 6 or the RS4 was just as quick (which the W12 GTi isn't).

It looks alright. I don't like the hard corners leading into the vertical sections on the body, but I do like the large vents in the contrasting color. It looks like a mean Golf... and that's what it is. I'm more fond of more subtle bodywork that would take a real car geek to differentiate between the styling and the base car.

in addition to the top gear show testing it, and not really liking it, their magazine tested it too, november I think, and they hated it. one key thing they pointed out was it keept overheating, like every five minutes it would overheat.
and when you put that much power into a car, then dont do anything about the wheelbase, your just begging for a horrible car. I really see no reason for getting this car. you could juts buy a GTI, put some crap on it, and it will look the same, and actually be able to corner.
thank god this is just a concept, and not actually being produced.

This is exactly what I'm on about. If you want a high horsepower car... Get a high horsepower car with the suspension, wheelbase, and handling to match. Don't get an econobox with a big engine. Sure, it'll be quick, but it'll be confused by corners and most people won't see it on the street and think "that's a sweet car".
So... High horsepower econoboxes are for straight-line acceleration (which is fine, but making that the focus of the car is lame imho) and they've got a good sound I'll admit, but I'd rather have a more modest car that can actually handle.
