As you have seen (and I have mentioned), I have resurrected a bunch of the old hardware threads that were not in use anymore in response to a couple of requests. I want to get a sense of whether this is useful to you or more of a confusion. I'll make this a poll for you to vote but I'd also like to hear comments with details about what you do or don't like about it if you don't mind. Also, any suggestions for improvement or changes are welcome. Thanks!

yes, more orginized and more to the point..
Is this about the new forums in the Workbench? I personally think it's too broken down. There's no need really to be so specific witha ll of the forums. I liked it better when we could have general vague areas to post all of our threads in.

I like the more specific sections so you know exactly what you're getting before you get it.
Of course, I'm also that guy who has his media folder so well organized that all you have to do is open the first folder then make a series of decisions until you get what you're looking for, stuff like anime/irl, fiction/non-fiction, tv/non-tv, etc. Very organized.

Yes it is.
I didn't like the idea myself until I complied with the requests and saw it. When I started moving threads over from the tech talk forum I realized how difficult it might be to find something in there. There were 22 pages of discussions. I appreciate the opinions and would like to hear more about both sides.

I'm a bit like Omega on this. That's probably why I hate having others working on my computers; they mess all the organization...
But, on the other hand, sometimes it's better for a fast answer to have them in only one place. For that I use the Today's post, so my vote is for an organized forum.

I need to employ your services someday, my filing system is like a barrel of colored marbles.

I like having the more specific sections, I can find stuff more easily.
As an aside, I'm rather anal about organising my folders and documents on my PC, but everythings a complete and utter mess IRL.

Since we are already discussing it, what do you folks think about chopping up the software section as well? It might make locating quick info easier if there were seperate areas for diff OS's, various types of utilities, and other catagories you may need. You obviously can't vote on this particular idea but I'd like to hear what you think.

how about letting us the choice? I mean: for making new thread or if you want to search within the sections it's nice, but for random looking, it's a real pain.

Not sure I understand what you mean, could you rephrase that?

I truly like this idea, but one has to take a step back and ask 'when is enough enough?'
Although, I would like to see a GIMP subsection. Not all of us can drop the cash for Photoshop. Ditto a CAD subsection as well (there's more out there than AutoDesk people! $30 can get you a copy of TurboCAD Designer).

excellent point, and that is exactly why I'm asking the community instead of just doing it. If it's not useful for you guys there is no point in doing it, but if you think it would be good then I'll give it a shot. Another thing to consider is that it's not permanent.

Wasn't sure if you were still looking in to this but i thought i would give my opinion anyway.
I love the software section and personally i would love to see it organized, but does it really get used enough to bother organizing it? It seems like one of the most dead parts of the forum. (Likely because it is stuck way down there at the bottom.) I think if it were broken up a lot of the subsections would fall out of use.

"merde" It's a good idea, but who to explain it???
ok I'll try:
supposed you go into a certain section. There you can see everything that have been posted (including the sub section) If you want to be more specific, you can have a link to the sub section you want to look into.
hope you can understand this description, if not, let me know I'll draw a picture :)
