I like my Zune... it's easy to use and is overall pretty straightforward. I've had good luck with Samsung too but prefer the Zune.

My guess is that it will be a close match between Zune and most anything from Creative. They're both really excellent products.

iPod is actually pretty nice, despite what some people may say. They have excellent customer service/warranties as well. But if your comparing the product with a Zune, the Zune owns it.

I voted Apple because i love the iPod Touch, standard iPods are nothing new really. I mean my sis had hers 1 week before she screwed the software, then it crashed...

But i wouldn't mind a Touch.

I voted Other because I don't have any of the ones specified above. Well I did have a first gen iPod Shuffle but quickly traded it out for the mp3 player I am using now. That mp3 player is a Toshiba Gigabeat, it is a fantastic music player even though mine is only a gen 1 and now there is a gen 3. It came with it's own dock, doesn't make a library on your HDD, will automatically sink all your music in media player and order it for you. Last but not least it has an LCD bigger and clearer than any iPod and puts most other mp3 players to shame.

I have a Creative Zen Stone. Doesn't have a screen, but it weighs less then the earbuds that come with it. 1gig model cost like ~$40, so on my poor college budget it fits in great. I have had no problems with it and the sounds quality is good.

I just got an Ipod Nano for Christmas, and have to say... WOW.

8gb for $149, with the ability to play music, photos, and videos. The wheel interface is a bit goofy at first, but the quality of the device is really nice.. definitely nicer than my old Creative Muvo.

Expensive too, but hey thats what eBay and unwanted xmas prezzies are for. Yay for them.

So ill get it, ill jailbreak it and shove on some 3rd party apps to make it more than just a iPod touch.

I just wasted 2hours 14mins.... My fingers hurt, but its so cool.

While I have flirted with Sony's and Creatives. I can't help coming back to ipods. I love my new 3rd gen nano.

I have the new Zune80. It's pretty much amazing. I've had an ipod before, and a Creative Muvo. The Creative was really nice, but I have way too many songs to choose from. I needed something to hold everything.

The Zune works great and looks great and feels great. There are a few bugs, but overall it is the best device on the market for its price.

I'm quite fond of my SanDisk Sansa M-series players. Mum's got the m240 (1GB) and mine's the m250 (2GB); both of them are simple (black-and-white blue-backlit screen), broadly compatible since they're basically mass-storage (mine's befriended multiple Windows PCs and my uncle's iBook with OS X), and relatively indestructable - though I had to RMA my original player (firmware corruption, a known problem with v4.0.44a).

(Interestingly enough, to make it work at all, you have to go through and change the USB setting from Auto Detect to MSC.)

All in all, they're inexpensive, somewhat quirky, and featureful for what they are. Better yet, they take a single AAA battery, and get 12 to 15 hours off alkalines, and nearly as much off of 1.2v NiMH rechargeables. They have a recording feature, playlist support (though it's a little finicky), an equalizer, an FM radio tuner, a stopwatch (hah!) and headphones that don't suck as much as you'd expect.

The m250 in action:
