i was putting my dads car away and i decided to drive around my block (driving is still fun ATM) so as i driving around i spot a CRT monitor. i stopped and wondering if i wanted to take it or not. after a minute or two i decided sure, i'll take it. as i was loading it into the car the guy who lives there was at the door, Charles. so i asked him if it still works and he said yes! its a 21" ViewSonic Graphics Series G810 and man is it heavy.

after using it for 30 minutes its really hurting my eyes though. i'm hoping that will go away in 2 days or so. after i went from 1024x786(17") to 1600x1400(21")! and i also had that happen when i went from my dads 19" LCD to 17" CRT.

Saweet! Even if it is CRT, the size of the screen totally makes up for it!

Man, I never get lucky like that. Everyone around here blows their old stuff up or shoots it full of holes. lol

What are you doing when your eyes start hurting? I'm guessing that this monitor has a really crappy dot pitch, especially given the size.

However, free is always good!

whats dot pitch?

i think its mostly reading when my eyes hurt, though i haven't gamed much.

i actually have to move my head now and not just the eyes to see it all.

See i pay for stuff and then wonder why im always poor and you lot aren't, therefore you can mod. It's all because you all go grabbin' stuff of street corners!

But a nice find, none the less :D

Dot pitch is the distance between pixels.

If your eyes are hurting you, try turning up the refresh rate a bit.. 80hz or better should help. :)

can't, with the way things are setup. i'm about 2+ feet away.

as for the hertz thing it was at 60Hz so i set it to 70Hz and it seems to be clearer and sharp. then i went to 75 and it got a bit worse so i have left it at 70Hz. will having a higher hz kill the life of it?

the neat thing is i can now see my 250mm fan spinning slowly :P
