I bought 13 antique computers for 1 penny.

I went for a local pick up and he gave me a couple more. The guy was just trying to unload them without having to add them to a landfill. Most are Tandy Color Computers (Imagine that). They are just keyboards that plug into a TV (no monitors). Two, below are laptops. They come as a box and the keyboard detaches from the front. I'll be using the laptops on my next Mod (After R2 is completed). I want to keep the "look" as much as possible. I'll just be gutting the inside and replacing the parts with a 2.8Ghz P4 and 512MB DDR 333. Everything else will be onboard. The mini monitor will be replaced with a 5 inch LCD.

on those laptops (actually called portables since they are really too heavy for a lap and usually had no batteries ) I can see some great potential with using the old 5.25" drives to stealth a regular optical drive/s.

Even calling them "portables" was being to kind. I remember people calling them "luggables" 'cause you could lug them with you. They worked much better if you had some rollerskates to put them on. :D

Though that is a great mod idea.

would you? I think he just wanted to get rid of them for the sake of getting rid of them. I would certainly not care for the .01 ;)
