Would it be wrong of me to ask my wife to make a post here about me dying, if I died? I was just wondering if someone here had died, how would we all find out??

That's something I've thought about a few times before. Most of my life is spent online and l that, so I have a lot of people who would miss me and have no way of knowing. I would of course want all of these people to know what happened to me.

If I died, I would vanish without a trace.

lol, cheerful thread. I suppose we could set up some sort of printable document to pass out to a couple of relatives, would be nice to know if one of ya's did take a long walk off a short pier.

EDIT: So should I open an obituary forum? :shoed:

LOL I'm just kidding, I really wanted to use that smiley though. But yes, I'd probably do the same thing (have someone post, that is).

You know, I've thought of that before also. What made me think of it was following a worklog that had regular updates for quite a while and then all of a sudden stopped. I know people lose interest or motivation, but it seemed odd the way it ended.

Most of my friends would be able to find out... progbuddy and I live ten minutes apart and he could post on my MySpace too so everyone there would know too.

I have wondered about this a few times, I've thought of setting up something or someone to send notification to forums, etc somehow, just would be a little tricky.

Once on a car related forum I purchased a semi-rare spoiler for my car in the classified section. The seller had two and the first one was purchased and recieved by another well known member I trust, I sent money for mine a week later but never got anything other than one message that he was having "family issues", I even sent follow up letters to his address. I wonder if something happened to him because he completely dissapear, I've seen scammers do this to people but the other well reputed member received his spoiler.

You could write a clause in your will that has instructions in it including passwords and such for websites you go to.

Is there a "Presumed Dead" plugin, that if a person doesnt post within like..2 years, he goes under the "Obituaries"?

Thatd be so funny to see

My wife could care less about all of you and I imagine wouldn't even think about posting here. Besides, if one day you saw a post from my user ID that I'm dead would you believe it?

The thread will probably get locked and then deleted.

My wife doesn't know about this web site. If she did find out she probably would not send any "sorry the dude you knew as Xpirate is gone" message on any of the forums that I read.

I talked to my wife about me dying and she agreed that she'd be willing to post here if I do die.

What TGS said.

Mainly for an invite to the HUGE party. NO funeral for me, just a large gathering of those that knew me and one hell of a party...

Her comment; "Of course I would tell your online friends. Who else would show up?"

Her incentive was getting rid of all my computer parts!
