Welcome to the mock-up worklog of my briefcase computer. Unfortunately, I don't have the money, parts, and time currently to start the real project. I figure I should get as much practice in as possible while I can though.

First, a little introduction.

This is me, James B., Pimptimus Prime, Leader of the Ghettobots.

This is my old buddy, James W., Whitey, Fellow member of the Ghettobots.

Please pardon the safety glasses and dust masks, but neither of us were feeling very well groomed at the time.

This is the tool briefcase I'm using for the mock-up. It is the same make and model as the one the final project will use.

I was originally going to use this case as a mobile docking port for my laptop based off of the G.E.C.K. from the fallout series, but alas, my laptop is no more. It was originally all aluminum, so I painted all the faceplates black. I was going to distress the yellow stripe paint job on the bottom. To get the flattened out paint bleed on the stripes I peeled up the tape where I wanted the look before spraying, then pressed the tape down tight after spraying. I thought it would have looked really good when I was done. The white posterboard on the lid was going to be a stencil for the G.E.C.K. emblem. I have other plans for this case in the future though. Anyway, I thought I would remove the stencil.

Now for the sequential montage of stripping the interior.

Then a little sanding (when the builder portraits were taken), and my day was done

Also, I hope I kept the pictures small enough.

It's funny, but the G.E.C.K. computer may actually be started and completed before my currently planned briefcase computer. I'm going to be getting several Pentium 2 systems later today and thats all I need to play FallOut. It would also give me good practice for my briefcase computer, which I can't even think about starting on until at least the end of next month. I'm still working on how I'm going to make the screen look like this:
