I have a 7950GT (512mb) and I'm juuust under 30 fps on cod4. I can run 35-60fps with AA set to 2x instead of 4x... and I forget what else I retarded a bit so I could run the game lag free.

Anyway, this game is just so amazing (ESPECIALLY with the z5500's...) that I'd really like to run it maxed.

Would buying another 7950 bump up the performance enough to achieve full settings? Although I'd love to upgrade to an 8800GT, at the moment, I'd rather save the money if running 2x7950's will do the trick.

I know this should be in "Video Killed the Radio Star" but that thread doesn't get much traffic and it's somewhat a hurry. Thanks guys. :D

Get a 360? :)

Naw, um the only problem with SLI i think is the performance boost is unpredictable. SLI doesnt give you a 100% boost which is a shame, because if you get 2 cards you would think that you would get the performance of 2 cards. One person told me that on a completely SLI compatable game, they got a 50% increase, so its really your opinion. And bragging rights :devcool:

I have a 360.

It is about a 50% performance increase, but I'm still not sure how that translates in fps.

Performance also has to do with the proccessing power i think. Have you overclocked your proccesor?

His processor at stock is more than fine for gaming. imo at least.

As far as SLI goes, I always thought it was more for graphical editing and that sort of stuff. I never really hear people going on about how much a second card helps in video gaming.

You could always hock it and upgrade to something more powerful. Another option is if any of your friends have an SLI setup, borrow their cards and see what happens.

You could also always get it for the XBox360, but I think your specs are pretty much better than your 360? lol

I don't want it for 360. I want it....have it.... for PC.

I wish my specs were better than the 360. 360 is at 3.2GHz tri-core. with a somewhat close video card. My CPU, with COD4 at max settings is only at 55-65%. It's definitely more of a gpu demanding game. Considering I'm only a few FPS away from 33fps, I'm prettttty sure it will bump me up past that, I was mainly hoping for someone with the same card who had some kind of benchmarks so I had something to compare against the 8800GT.

i would say go for it. I run sli and it make s a very noticeable change in the games I play. My friend with same specs as my system but with a 8800gt going against mine with 2 8600gt I come a little shy of his. In aquamark he is scoring around 110,000 and mine is scoring around 101,000 so I would say go for it. it would save money now.

Short answer, no, it's not likely you'll get full settings with another 7950GT.

Long answer: ...I just forgot what I was going to type. That's what school does to you.

i would sell the 7950gt and grab a 8800GT or 8800GTS 512.

See these kinda answers make me paranoid haha. I don't wanna throw away 100 bucks, then end up having to sell 2 cards. Any idea why another card wouldn't give me the extra 10 or so fps needed?

I'd have to say spend the extra cash on an 8800GT. That way its easier to upgrade in the future, you'll get the bigger performance boost, and the boost is guaranteed (no guessing w/ SLI).

Then if you really want to make it easy on your wallet in the future, go w/ evga so that you can do their step-up program if something nice comes out 90 days after you're purchase. Thats one of the reasons I'm trying to only get evga cards from now on.

EDIT: My friend tried out the COD4 Demo on his new 8800GT comp (Q6600, 2GB RAM). Running full graphics at 1920x1200 he was getting around 50fps. In some scenes it got up in the high 60s. It never dropped below 35.
