I start up my Zune Software and immediately it brings up the window asking you if you want to send an error report or not. I can play music and all while that is up but I can't sync my Zune. Is there any way to fix this crap or some other software I can use to sync my Zune? I know reformatting would work but I do NOT want to do that again... especially since I had to about a month ago.

ok.. this is realllllly hard to explain so bare with me.

1. uninstall your zune software.
2. Download the Zune Media Collection Reset tool from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=86B2A33D-9BF8-45F6-89FF-B9A6236AA37D&displaylang=en

3. Reinstall Zune

If that dosen't work let me know.

It says this when I try to run it:

An error occurred while resetting your collection.
Error Details: Service Zune Network Sharing Service was not found on your computer '.'.

Try this reset tool.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/browse.aspx?displaylang=en&productID=E461AD4C-3A41-4C10-8FEA-ED5051D0576D

bookmark it. it has everything you'll need

Tried everything, still doesn't work, lol... know where they config settings and all are? Usually crap like this lasts through installs and all because it doesn't erase the config file(s) when it uninstalls.

After you uninstall. Go to C:\users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Zune
Delete the contents and reinstall.

maybe that will work

Try these:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944882?sd=zune
http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/general-zune-software/14945-official-ms-tools-media-collection-reset-sync-diagnostics.html
http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/general-zune-software/12660-possible-fixes-common-zune2-software-issues.html

Quote from the last one

Crash on Start

1.) Turn-off the compatibility mode for Zune if you had it on. This is essential here in order to verify the effectiveness of this.

2.) Follow the steps in the following KB Article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929642 and although the KB article doesn't really mention this crash issue, it should address the problem. Please be sure to note the possible consequences regarding content licenses mentioned in there. Also in step (d) Internet Explorer should be running as Administrator.

3.) After successfully performing all steps in the KB, try to start Zune again (with compatibility mode turned off).

Thanks, Justananomaly!

It's just an empty folder and it won't let me delete it because another program is supposedly using it. o0

I really have no clue what it is, lol... I was thinking of maybe reformatting (what a pain in the arse to do though...) and that should do it. I mean, I don't have anything too important on my Windows partition, just Windows, lol.

By the way, the Zune software was uninstalled when I tried, lol.

Nope. Nothing anyone posted. I'm gonna reformat tomorrow and reinstall everything. My PC has been way too screwy these past few weeks...

Did any of this work for you?

xRyokenx

No it didn't... I ended up reformatting as everything was going to hell on this computer. Now it all runs like a charm. :D
