I’m pleased to announce the arrival of my new system! Well, at least the parts for it. As usual, I don’t have any sort of plan for the build or modding, but sometimes that’s more fun.

So here’s the pile, in all it’s glory.

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p176/lukifer122/PICT0586.jpg

And now for a list!

1 – Silverstone TJ07 Silver Tower
2 – 20” Samsung 206BW LCDs
2 – XFX 8800GT 512mb Alpha Dogs
1 – Intel E8400 CPU
1 – Asus P5N-T Deluxe 780i SLI mobo
2 – 750GB Seagate SATA II 32mb Cache HDDs
1 – Creative X-Fi Fatality Pro
1 – Pioneer 20x DVDRW (IDE)
2 – 4gb Patriot PC2-6400 kits (8gb Total)
1 – OCZ GameXstream 1010w PSU
1 – Zalman CNPS9700NT Cooler

I also picked up a blue sleeving kit, a round (blue) IDE cable for the dvdrw. I have tons of blue LED’s already so I’ll be adding some strategic lighting inside the case also.

Plans to follow.

I REALLY hate you.

That'll be a hell of a machine when it's up. Are you going to run it for a while, then mod, or just go straight at it right away?

I would have gone for a single GTX myself. Nice system nevertheless.

I'll be modding before/during/after the build. :)

I did consider a single GTX (as well as two of them...) but decided that the pair of GT's would be plenty good for me. Besides.. dual GTX's would have really destroyed my budget.. which I completely destroyed as it is. :D

Definite hatred.
Might I ask your address, and when you would be out of the house for an extended period of time, or at least long enough for a minor break in?
jk, but seriously, can we get a grand total?

Luke122

Grand total for system: $3498.53 CAD

I'll take one, I'll take twelve! You can keep the price though, I don't need -$3.5k CAD. Thanks though. :D

Wait you got a 780i Mobo and only 2 8800GTs... Fool...

Although that is one damn nice list of bits.

Highly doubt you needed a 1010W PSU...

You will _LOVE_ the case, even if it's extremely large, and the box is, well.. MASSIVE!

I can safely say i think my some of my 3DMark and Aquamark scores are well and truly beat!

You spent roughly £500ish more then me, if i had a extra £500, i'd have been bithing 8800GTX SLi and Dual 20"ers with 4GB RAM atleast. So id say it's all good.

Really would like to see what that scores in 3DMArk06 at stock.

Go ahead. Take him out. That just leaves 1 target for me instead of 2.

So, XP or Vista?

Luke122
01-19-2008, 12:37 AM
Ah the eternal question... XP or Vista.

I'll actually be trying both, to see which gives the best performance and compatibility combination.

I was going to get an 850w psu (also OCZ GameXstream), but they were out of stock, and I'm too impatient. $40 more for the 1010w? Ok, I'll take it. This also gives me some more headroom *IF* I do add a third gpu, and when I *do* add the watercooling.

Also, I realize that I could have gotten 3 (yes, 3!) 8800gt's, but honestly.. $3500 wasnt enough? I completely destroyed my budget with this machine, and didnt even get the watercooling that I wanted in the first place!

*sigh*

The Silverstone case IS more than huge.. MASSIVE. It makes my old P180 seem quite small. The box for the thing is incredibly big.. I was sure there would be a ton of packaging, but honestly.. it's a frickin' big case.

I always thought people built those kind of rigs over time, part by part. You just bought it all at once! lol

You must be making some pretty good money or you must of been saving for quite some time to afford all of that. Just crazy, pure unadulterated crazy. But damnit its awesome!

I would be happy if could build a 400usd rig. >< ...don't suppose you have any job offerings do you? or hey, how about a twenty year old son?? :p

No Doofus.
Get it right Scotty!

8800gt's can't do tri sli, only the 8800GTX and 8800 Ultra's can do tri sli. they need 2 sli connectors for the new tri sli connector bridge (http://www.tcmagazine.com/images/news/Hardware/Nvidia/Nvidia_tri-SLI_bridge_02.jpg).

sorry, had too...

nice stuff ya got there, lets see the hardware pictures aswell!

Looks like they are out of them now. :( It's funny that the E6850 is 294 while the E8400 is ~214 (the best I found it for was 204).

On the website, they show "stock error". Apparently there's some sort of sku problem.. if you call them up, they'll let you know how many are in stock.

Your not kidding the 20" monitors look like boxes of kleenex next to that thing. I can see you are going to have fun over the coming days :D grats dude.

Waste of time you can't SLI with 2 monitors unless you have four GPU's.
