I'm a BF2142 addict.

Suddenly it feels as if I've lost about half the speed I had. The game is fraggy and it frustrates me to death. Here's why it's so frustrating:

- It has been running super fast and smooth in the past.
- I didn't change any settings.
- I have the latest video driver.
- My ping is still great within the game avg 35 (lower is better right?)
- I defrag and optimize all the time. I use CCcleaner and RegSeeker.

Here are my questions:

- Could I have damaged the CPU slightly and not suffered a big failure? I had my Pent D 3Ghz over clocked to 3.5.
- Can anybody think of anything else.

My specs:
- Pentium D 3ghz
- 2 gigs Corsair RAM
- Nvidia 7600 GT

Thanks everybody. I just thought I might be missing something simple.

Try defragmenting your hard drive.

how long have you been ocing that proc? what are temps like?

it's possible you have become a bit unstable if you have oc'ed for some time now. i have heard over time it gets harder to oc.

I'd check temps, make sure everything is seated properly and make sure nothing is auto-downloading/installing.

Be sure you have no malware infections. Run as many scans as you can. Adaware, Spybot, Windows defender, your antivirus, trend housecall, Gibson research "Shields Up/Probe my ports" (http://www.grc.com).

Some crappy bit of software trying to pimp your connection would easily result in this kinda thing happening.

Thanks everyone. I'm gonna go back into research mode and look at everything again.

The temps never got too hot.
I'll run all my Mal Ware aps again.

Thanks a bunch.

You would likely see a higher ping than that if it were from malware. What is your memory situation? I am guessing your RAM hasn't changed but how about hard drive space? I have had things slow down when the drives get fairly full before. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling? And of course, there is always the fix-all reinstall windows. It may sound silly over one game but hey, we're talking BF here.
