Okay so I've been working on my pc mod. I ran into an issue...

Shown here is the power socket on the mother board. This is where the power switch plugs in. Now here's my issue. My old PC had the power button and reset button all as one unit. This new case has a separate power button and reset button. I was able to figure out where the power button went just by wire coloring. However, I can't seem to figure out which set of prongs I need to plug into for the reset switch. This new case also has a hard drive LED. Where am I supposed to plug that in? I sincerely appreciate the help guys. Thanks in advance.

basicly, if there are no markings on the mobo, wel...1st try the internet, try to find a manual for the mobo... 2nd, if nothing better, trial and error...there can't be anything worng in swapping connectors... the power and reset don't really have polarity issues...so once you find the reset... youre set. the led is a different deal... you need more time to find the right pins...cause the led is one way... + the -... good luck :)

Look at the area in red.

This is your map for you to use to locate where the wire's go. should be pretty self explanitory. BTW I think you have your power switch pluged in wrong.

Darkwolf found them... THere is normally a payout somewhere close to the pins if not directly next to the pins that will tell you which is which.

Hmm... now I'm a little confused.
I tried the layout that was pointed out to me... Didn't work.
I did however, find the pin locations on the Gateway website. (Who'd uh thunk?)
The layout that they had works just fine. So do you think Gateway maybe modifies the mob to suit their needs?
Anyways, it all works just fine now.

... i think the marks are for another set of connections... maybe the all so known way of making products scalable... maybe they had a similar mobo with the conectors placed on the solderpoints... anyways..it doesn't matter because it works :)
they proboly make X number of the boards and then modify them based on which product it will go in. Like buying a piece of wood then "modifiying" it into a chair.

more like buying 6 ton of wood then making chairs, a house, sofas, bed frames, and tables.
To get an idea look at the PCB fab prices from pcb123.com
http://www.pcb123.com/pcb123pricing.php#6 (mobos are 6+ layers normally)
tis cheer, by quite a bit, to make duel function boards depending on if you can have the larger PCB for both projects.
