Hi guys. I know that since November 2007, my time for the site has rapidly declined. You might have noticed that I usually popped in twice a week to check up, but that over the last fortnight i've been MIA.

I'm afraid the reason behind this is not a good one.

Many of you know that I had extensive surgery to help me with a serious condition known as Ulcerative Collitis. At the time, I couldn't attend University so I concentrated on TBCS, which is why you guys have this new skin. When it came to return however, I was far behind in my studies.

I thought I would be ok, but the wounds aren't healing like they're supposed to, and 4 months on I still have an open wound about a 1/3 of an inch round in my lower right hand side. No-one seems to know what to do about it, and it's become painful and irritating, preventing me from doing a lot of things like bending over or stretching, when I can do everything else fine. So with all this on my plate, and catching up with University, I already had a lot on my plate.

On Monday, 14th January, 2008, Heather Kerr died of Chronic Liver Failure. Heather was the mother of my girlfriend of 5 years, and the only family she had left. Kimberley is her name, and her piece of **** ***hole excuse for a father threw her out when she was 6 years old along with her mother.

When I met Kimberley, I encouraged her to get in touch with her dad, because I still believed in humanity. She did, and the way he has treated her since then has sickened me to my very core, disgusted me, enraged me, that any human being could be so calous and cold to their own daughter. He has other children, which he apprently does love, but not Kimberley.

He didn't turn up for the funeral. No-one from her side of the family did. I'm happy to say that the Crematorium was packed with family and friends, and we gave Heather a good send-off. But now, Kimberley is on her own, so I need to be there for her as much as I can.

Obviously, taking the time out to help her out has put me even more behind on my University work, so now that i've returned, my TBCS time is being eaten away again. So i'm changing myself from a moderator to a man `on Hiatus'. That's what this is; you better believe i'll be back, but you'll have to get by without me for a short while.

I don't want to end on a sad note though, so here's some nice things to think about;
1) Kimberley has only ever wanted one thing from life-a dog. Probably because a dog will love her unconditionaly. We're going to go and get her a puppy soon.
2) Kimberley has inherrited a fully paid-off house. It needs some modernising, but that's what modders are for, right? ;)
3) Those of you waiting for the TIP-3000 worklog, be patient. I did finish it, and it will be coming at some point...

Hope that news helps to put a smile on your face. While i'm gone, remember that Jon works his ass off for you guys. He may or may not want to bring in someone as a temporary replacement while i'm gone; that is up to him.

Finally, I can only promise that I will be back.

-Dave

I hope you get better soon. And give your girlfriend my best of wishes.
You'll have to tell us what type of puppy you get and of course, post pictures!

Trust me, it'll be a German Shepherd. Or a Mastif. Or a Great Dane. Or a Husky. Or anything bred with a wolf.

Dogs are her life, what she lives for. But she's not interested unless a child can use it as a horse. (Not so a child can use it as a horse...just that size.)

I'll be sure to let you guys know. :)

I was just telling Jon the other night that I was hoping you were ok. This is like a kick in the balls. All I can say is the site and all of us will be here. Take care of yourself and your girl. Hope to see you back soon.

Dave, Kathy and I send our best. Give Kimberley a big hug for us. Next time we _must_ meet her too. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.

Family can be the source of the most extreme emotions. Good and bad. At least she has the ability to say "I tried". That is what will matter in the end.

Best wishes and we look forward to our next trip to Scotland (hopefully soon).

OMG Dave, we need to chat about that. I'll contact you. So sorry to hear about the difficult times and that surely explains why you haven't around much.

As for the work, don't worry about that at all. It will all be waiting for you when you come back.

Dave, best wishes to you for a speedy recovery damnit! Also, condolences from Montana regarding your loss. If you were stateside instead of the other side of the world, I'd recommend you go see the same surgeon I went to in 05. He's one of the best when it comes the surgery and post surgery that you (and I) had.

And not to hijack, but I too suffered from UC until 2005, when I had the same procedure that DaveW went through. The difference is night and day.

Marry that woman! We'll be waiting!!

lol..Maybe. If I do, don't worry. A LOT of you guys will be getting invites.

We'll get through it. I got some good news today as well, I've been offered a PhD position at the University. I'm gonna go see the guy next week to discuss my chances. I think they're pretty good-I was a straight A student till I got sick, and even when I did my grades were damn good for a guy going into surgery the day after the last exam. I came out the wheelchair the same day I started my work placement, and got the second lot of surgery between that and starting back at University.

My summer break consisted of 4 days, if you factor out recovery time. I'm determined, and I will get this position, if I think it's something I want to do.

Airbozo, if you come back over, I'd love for you to come and visit me and Kimberley. The women can chat (I get a feeling they will get along...) and we can sneak off for guy talk and Whisky. :D
