Ok first off I want to say I love my 2 daughters and my wife. Long story short my wife and I filed taxes today. I was sitting there bored expecting to get shafted the woman spins the screen around and points to this large number on screen and says this is what you are getting back. My wife and I sit there in disbelief as this woman is pointing at a line stating $6800.00. I almost shat myself right there. we smiled at the woman and quietly left. We get int he car and my wife looks at me and just says "make it last at least 3 years" I was like what?? she says for me to rebuild my computer and try to make it last at least 3 years unless a part dies then it doesn't count. I told her it would be a little higher than I wanted to spend. As of 1 hour ago she handed me a newegg gift card on it with $1500.00 and a note that says "go nuts". Long story short everything should be here by Thursday. I got the following

EVGA 780i board
2x EVGA 512mb 8800gt superclocked videocards
1x G.skill 4gb pc2 6400 (2x2gb sticks)
1x Intel Q6600 2.4 quadcore processor
1x Asus sata dvd rom
1x Asus sata dvd burner
4x 120mm fans (blue led)
2x 12" blue cathode lights
1x Asus Arctic Square 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler
1x Corsair memory cooler
and the grand piece to assemble it and contain this beast??

A Coolermaster stacker 830 evolution.......keep an eye out for a new build/mod......

Congrats on the parts! Make sure you get a shot of it all together when it arrives.. we can both have some braggin rights. ;)

I have a 9700 in my build... heavy as heck, and so far I"m not that impressed with it. But then again, I havent really pushed it yet, so we'll see. :)

yeah I have a 9500 in my current rig and it's nice but nothing to write home to mom about. I am willing to give another brand a try. If it fails then I may have to get incontact with my buddy swiftec for some wc parts.

P.S. I am still waiting on your build to be complete Luke...It will be nice...

For the currently 'ultimate' (last time I checked) look at the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme. Ignore the NewEgg people who say it's no good, it's fine.

wow i guess newegg people really are dumb then. until the OCZ HydroJet comes out (assuming it does what it claims) the thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme is the best heatsink out still. i would get one were it not for future w/c plans and lack of space in my case.

Some newegg people claim to know 'everything' about tech... but know the basics of using a computer.

I was debating the Thermalright when I got the Zalman.. those were the two I had to choose from, and I went on a recommendation for the Zalman. :)

Yeah, i cant wait for it to be done either! I have decided to attempt Vista on my machine, despite my guts telling me otherwise.. we'll see how it goes.

Berticus.. any plans for the build? Some custom stuff, or something themed?

actually there is a theme and the wife jsut got me the paint to do the trim pieces and suprised me with one of these http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/51C53JH9W7L._SS400_.jpg

so yeah when all the parts get here I will start on the case. This time the mod means a lot to me. It is going to be in the theme of the norse god Thor. Well not Thor specifically but more his hammer, Mjöllnir it's old Norse simply means "mealer" referring to its pulverizing effect. My family has a lot of heritage in Icelandic ways and I still carry on many of the ways and believe the ways my ancestors did. This entire mod is part of my heritage. It will be simple yet have a profound look to it. Just as his hammer.... if anyone wants to read up on it here is a wikipedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mjolnir
