As you can see by my system... I need an upgrade....ok...I'll be honest I just want one. (I know put want in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first):) So I was thinking about which motherboard to go with. And well I guess I just thought I would ask for opinions...? I was thinking about building a gaming system....I would like to run COD4 and Unreal tournament 3, and so on... I was thinking about getting SLI for future upgrades...I have no preference as to AMD or Intel. I don't want to spend a small fortune...

So any opinions would be appreciated for whenever I do buy this motherboard.

Thanks

(P.S. That's not my only system...But the other one is an older AMD Athlon running at about 1.5 Ggz with 512Mb of Ram and onboard graphics)

(P.S.S. I was thinking of spending around $500 to $600 dollars on everything. Including Case and Power Supply. But who knows...when the time comes I may up the budget.)

You may be hard pressed to get a computer that would run either of those games on a low budget. I'll see what I can do though.

EDIT:

Here is what I came up with:
Case - Antec NSK6580 w/ Antec 430W PSU - $79.99

CPU - AMD AthlonX2 5000+ 2.6GHz - $99.99

Motherboard - MSI K9A2 CF-F - $99.99 (Supports crossfire)

RAM - G.Skill 2GB (2x 1GB) DDR2-800 - $46.99

GPU - 512MB Sapphire HD3850 - $189.99

DVD Burner - Pioneer DVR212DBK - $31.99

HDD - Seagate 320GB 7.2kRPM SATAII - $84.99

Total: USD$633.93

btw, hope you don't need keyboard and mouse and a monitor.

Thanks you... Also, I know I may be hard pressed to get a system like that. I also forgot to mention I most likely will not need a hard drive or a dvd burner, and I have a keyboard, mouse and monitor.

I would go ahead with the new hdd.. once you have a faster system, you'll fill the old ones in no time. :)

Another question... Would 2 7600gt's in sli or similar compare to the 3850?

Thanks for the help

A single 3850 would out perform both I would think.

Ok, Thank You! So, if I was gonna buy a motherboard right now(around that price) you think that would be the one to go for?

Also, which of these two would you choose?

The 2nd one. While the Asus one supports SLI, it does not support the newer Phenoms and it doesn't support PCI-E 2.0. The MSI board may not support SLI, but it supports the Phenoms and PCI-E 2.0. For a budget system, getting 1 card is proberly better for you. Also the MSI board support CrossFire, so you could get another 3850 and put them in crossfire later.
Can your current computer support such a motherboard? If not, you may want to wait and buy everything at once.

No, my current computer wouldn't be able to utilize the new motherboard....I was thinking about buying the motherboard, processor, RAM, and video card right now...But instead of going with 2gb like i will eventually like(or maybe 4) i was thinking 512mb. Same with the video card and processor...But I'm not quite sure.

I'd wait some time before you do that. You said you wanted to play COD4 and UT3.
