well... ive decided to start a new project while i work up some parts for a complete redesign of Catalyst Green

this project is called Future Lan

its base case will be a super lan boy

the hardware listing:

the designs look interesting and very futuristic, and i think the outcomes is going to be neat:D

what coulor is that plexi, and what about making a plate just like it just a tad bigger to put underneath:D... that would look sweet but ill just se what you come up with:)

Here is a header for your worklog, I tried to incorporate all of the elements you mentioned. The brushed metal didn't come in too strong, but I tried to make the "wings" look like brushed metal overlaid with blue plexi, meh, close enough for pro-bono.

Let me know if you want any changes. I think I'm going to touch up a couple of things I forgot, and the circuit board is a bit hard to make out behind the glass. But you won't need to swap them out, I'll upload it to the same url so it will just replace the old one.

thanks jiggi, on a psitive note from the job loss-ness... i was talkin to my boss from when i worked in a machine shop about hetting some assistance on upcoming mods, i got an off for my old job back... so hopefully monday i will be starting back in my machine shop!

with that, i may have another mod running along with this one and i might be working on project: waterblocked once again!

i found my top duct from my P180 and thought...hey...that would look good on top of future lan

welll...ive got a bit of a small update...

i got some polishing done yesterday on those side pieces.... they arent quite as clear as id like....but its fine for now...i plan on having a lot of polishing in the near future

also, for my birthday my dad got me a camera a Nikon Coolpix S550

alrighty.. as you know, ive been working away at my motherboard cover mold. i got the sore throat thing goin around and after i got better i decided to take a small break from that and focus on the back of the case a bit and get a lil practice with the fiberglass

alrighty...i decided to take some time to update while bondo hardens...

today was more work on the back panel, taking it from the sheet of fiber to the final shape (roughly,still need to figure out placement for the PSU)

then got to cutting
i knew it would be a lil trouble getting dimensions correct (so it looked right when mounted) so i cut it a lil oversized

i then followed up with mounting it to the back of the case and tracing out the fanhole and the edges of the IO ports etc

i followed this with mounting it back to the case and taking my sanding drum on a dremel to the fan hole and a file to the edges along the ports..

after i got it all cut.. i laid some bondo, to even up the surface, there were some valleys in the resin of the fiberglass

and whil i had the bondo out, i went ahead and filled the mount holes for the original window

WOW! Love that finish! What did you use to polish the paint?

thanks, to get my finish i laid down two coats of clear, wet sanded with 800 grit another clear coat and wet sanded with 1200, then i used some automotive polish and a buffing pad on a drill and went over it lightly and quickly...if you hold it in one place too long itll heat up the clear and cause scratching... i then went over it again with a polishing cloth

to start off, ive moved back in with my mom about 100 miles from where i used to live..into an apartment. no room for modding here.

thankfully ovride here provided me with space to work on my case stuff (and maybe prod him into starting a nice mod of his own :P) so we have been working together planning new ideas, and im sure we will be pumping out some other mods here in the near future :)

You shouldn't look at it as just "a basic case mod"

Flash point of gas is too high for a cigarette it will just put it out. Awesome mod though, glad to see I am not the only one with wood working tools to do computer mods. The only metal tools I have is tin snips and a dremel makes things a little difficult.

well tonight i went to ovrides...but as normal, i got distracted and didnt get any work done...but i do have the pics from the night befores modding

i got the second piece all cut for the trim. its still not complete, as i have some other parts to make for it all

about 5 minutes into use the power/speed knob came off in my hand... so im going to get a hitachi saw on saturday

tonight i did some work on my front panel. i needed to have some trim on there that went with the rest of the case

well, i had to remake a piece of acrylic because the last piece cracked when drilling

this piece was the one that will go in the front of the drive bays to act as a cover

as i had mentioned to The_boy_4rm_oz, ill have some custom fangrills for this case, so why not a custom way to mount them as well

i made myself a template, the bottom edge of it forms to the shape of the case around the fan, and the large rounded matches the curve of the door and divider
