Hey guys,
I know it possible, and probably easy, but I'm not totally sure how to do it. I'd like to be able to provide power at different locations around my case via female RCA. I have seen a few mods where this has been done, and then used to power various lights etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a standard molex plug has two ground, one 12v and one 5v right? Is it as simple as just soldering the 5v and one ground or 12v(depending on desired voltage) and one ground to the RCA plug?

As far as I know it is pretty much as simple as that. The rca plugs aren't overly complex so I couldn't see having to do something complex. All the mods ive seen with them have pretty much laid it out as just connect the voltage you need and a ground and your set.

But perhaps someone who has done this before can chime in to confirm.

That's all there is to it... one ground, one +V. Just make sure you get the polarity right.. the same on both plugs (male/female) or bad things happen. :)

Defyant used this a few times on some of his mods, I'm pretty sure he's got some details in one of his worklogs.

yeah...make sure that you dont mix them up when you go to reconnect everything.... its a nice easy way to burn up components

ive done something similar in the past...heres a link to my thread...idk how detailed i got into it

A couple of ideas. (bear in mind that I haven't done this myself). If you're using both 5V and 12V, try to get red and white RCAs and decide what colour represents what voltage. Then so long as you connect them red - red and white - white, you shouldn't fry anything.
Also, it's conventional to make the centre positive and the outer ground.

Yea I did a little tutorial on it a while back. .its not the greatest, but Here (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8416&highlight=RCA) it is.
