If you want it to be really expensive go 1/5th scale, they can break your leg if they run into you. They can easily run you 1K just for the car kit, not including the rest of the stuff you need. They race those on old go kart tracks.

Just a heads up for anyone who has never had a nitro RC car before, nitro vehicles can be frustrating. This is because they do not always start when you want/need them to, and then they will stop running for apparently no reason. After saying that, the 4WD trucks are a ton of fun. You can easily run them on dirt bmx tracks or on a frozen pond (with tiers modified with staples or thumbtacks in them). The most expensive thing is the replacement parts. They are overpowered with the nitro engines, and you will break things because of that. :)

It seems the price has come down quite a bit in recent years. When my friend bought his Traxxas truck, it was $600 for the truck alone and he spent another $300 easy on upgrades and stuff.

They are super fun, if i could afford one right now, i'd buy two :)

I have a stadium truck, but it needs a steering servo. I might get rid of it since I really want a 1:10 or a 1:8 scale on-road nitro car.

I have a t-maxx. You weren't lying when you said that they can be frustrating.

Dang thing doesn't run right, like ever... should've bought an electric and brushless'd it (seriously, those things can get 65 MPH when they have a good brushless kit on them with a lipo).

I have not really been using it lately... If I would sell it I would probably would. I got a new non-traxxas engine and it almost runs decently although it has been mothballed since last summer. hopefully, there is not any rust on the inside of it.

then again, maybe I would have an excuse to spend 300+ on a brushless/lipo kit.

Still very fun when they are running right though. there is some extreme power there.

I got a nitro Ultra LX Pro Off Road Buggy, bought it for $500(long time ago)/ (just got it tuned recently new servo battery and engine mount=$70) day later i get it back friend did something and now the thing doesnt move(probably gears striped).

Im in this hobby allreday :)
Just ordered myself a new car, im gonna compete with the Associated RC8 this year, engine and stuff is yet to be deicided.
Last year i raced a Kyosho with a NovaRossi engine.
1/8 scale all the way ;)
