Can't wait to see how you make the "ghosts" fly out and the 'chain lightning of death' come out when you take the lid off......:D
Looking forward to another great TGS mod.
Bring it on!

I like the design idea ...somewhere on the net I ran across someone else that was going to do a large case like this out of wood and have several Mobo's in it for a cluster but I beleive he only got so far as the rough out of the wooden case and wound up scrapping the whole idea in favor of a girlfriend... As IF!
So anyways good luck on this. + rep + subscribed.

http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1010739.jpg
I set the top on, but I don't have it connected yet. I may have to drill the holes through the wood as shown and drill holes through the top of the case too. That way the pillars won't have to bolted directly to the case and risk losing their smoothness.

I've made a decision. This will just be a case mod. I actually have no use for another system and wouldn't have anywhere to put it when finished. So the CPU, Mobo, RAM and Heatsink are all on ebay in one auction. The 500GB Hard drive I'm going to keep and add to R2-M5 (giving him a total of 750GB!)
The modding continues.

As I wait for my $224 worth of supplies for Project Framed, I spent a little time on my Ark of the Covenant Mod.
So I decided to use the shape of the ten commandments as the window, since they are what is in the Ark. I found a pic online
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8742/p1020135cs6.jpg
Then cut out the shape and drew it on the panel.

Looks interesting

I want to coat this side with the mesh too, but should I cut out the commandments here too or leave it covered?

So more work to show.
This is what I'm shooting for.
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/8490/p1020322jt0.jpg
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/5056/p1020323qe8.jpg
Here's how I'll do it. I used good ol' expanding foam to fill in the pillar
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/6426/p1020324bm9.jpg
I have this thin rod
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/9333/p1020327ge6.jpg
I had to cut it to size
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/7141/p1020328na6.jpg
Then I dropped in the rod
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1724/p1020329go8.jpg
And drilled a hole in the plywood base
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/9996/p1020331ky3.jpg
I checked to make sure that the rod will fit.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1223/p1020332ay8.jpg
And shaved off the excess foam
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3280/p1020333kn9.jpg
Then all I had to do was set the pillar on top and push the rod through the top and bottom.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1529/p1020334rd3.jpg
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1351/p1020335ad2.jpg

So I attached the other carry bar and one of the front columns and I must say, IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP. I need to find something besides my current column choice to make the front look better.

Tomorrow I'm going shopping to fix this. Here's the Ark model I'm using:

And here's the direction I'm heading

So I had to rethink this. I bought 4 of these table legs
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030007.jpg
I then pulled out the screw in one for each side
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030008.jpg
Then added glue and screwed them together
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030009.jpg
Then comes the paint.

And here's kind of what it'll look like later

see if you can attach a grill like the side over it and then stealth everything...

It's just a case mod for me. I'm not putting a system in. She want it?

I don't know; I told her to mod her own. She has plans for a few that I doubt will ever materialize. I have too many cases lying around the house and in my closet.

So I needed work on the front.................with bondo
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030018.jpg
I prepped my mesh
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030019.jpg
Before I painted and bolted it on I needed to cut out the Power and Reset buttons
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030020.jpg
Here's how it's going.
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030021.jpg
Then I painted and added the rivets
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030023.jpg
Then I cut out the blow hole and added the mesh
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030027.jpg
And painted the rivets too.
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030024.jpg
I added the lone slot loading DVD drive
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp143/TheGreatSatan/P1030028.jpg
Nearing the end

It looks kind of alkward without the drive bay covered in the mesh too, can you stealth it?
TheGreatSatan
10-07-2008, 10:11 AM
I could.....it's a slot loading drive though
Karbon Killa
10-07-2008, 02:37 PM
Great looking mod, I love it. About making the drive steathed. I would think it would be pretty easy. Just cutting some of that "mesh" to add onto it and cut a hole around the slot...
FuzzyPlushroom
10-07-2008, 07:07 PM
Indeed, just flatten the bezel a bit, perhaps, and cut the mesh around the disc slot and eject button. Karbon's figured me out on this one.

I drilled holes for the carry bars to mounted to the sides.
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1030034.jpg
I'll be using countersink nails

http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1030037.jpg
I've been meaning to touch up the angel topper. I bought some wood filler for the seams where the decorative trim pieces come together.
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1030039.jpg
Once it dried I reapplied an extra thick coat of paint to assist in the fill in
http://www.pcmodhouse.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/p1030041.jpg
I cut out another piece to stealth the DVD drive and I'll add it in a bit

I post on a lot of other forums too and a lot of people hate this mod. So I ask myself:
"Are TBCS members being truthful?"
Langer
10-13-2008, 08:16 PM
Haha.
I don't hate it... but I think it'd be more successful with greater attention to fit and finish. The fabrication quality seems a little sub-par - but the idea is strong.

Wow, seems like my worklog was locked over at Wizd.co.uk because it's just a case mod and not a PC mod. I will put guts into it at the end for pics, but that's all. I think I've gotten more flak over this project, than any other because people are pissed that Satan is doing a God related project and it's not up to their silly religious standards.

I'd suggest that they stick your Ark in a particular dark orifice, but I'd hate to see what would happen to it...
More importantly, yes, I do like it. It's unusual, it's of good quality, and it looks about as good as possible given the materials you had to work with. You'll hear no serious complaints from me.
